I initially thought the guy was a nut job but I looked into his statements and it all checked out as fact. All the players, the dates, the relationships of the players. It all fit together and I was/am astonished. Please...its not crap and I would never, ever call the holocaust a hoax.

I'll put this up, but its kind of long. Its the notes that I took while looking into Freedmans 1961 speach. Now, first of all, I'd like to tell you that on August 25th 1960 -- that was shortly before elections -- Senator Kennedy, who is now the President of the United States, went to New York, and delivered an address to the Zionist Organization of America. In that address, to reduce it to its briefest form, he stated that he would use the armed forces of the United States to preserve the existence of the regime set up in Palestine by the Zionists who are now in occupation of that area.
Except that Americans aren't used for this. And, of course, antisemites like to blame Zionists for Kennedy's assassination.

That's odd. In 1956, the US betrayed Britain, France and screwed Israel to help pro-Soviet Egypt.

Freedman lacks basic knowledge here. (And your claims of using Wikipedia shows you to be a liar or incompetent.) Russian invaded East Prussia. Look up the Battle of Tannenberg Forrest and the Prussian Campaign. (I'm citing wikipedia because you claim to have used it for research of Freedman's claims. I don't need to use it, as I can work from a memory of research done 20 years ago.)

It was the resumption of unrestricted submarine warfare (January 31st 1917). Wilson severed diplomatic relations with Germany on February 3rd and asked Congress to declare war on April 2nd. They passed the declaration of war on April 4th and Wilson signed it on April 6th.

Just what was going on in most of February and into March, I don't know. I guess they had to set everything up for mobilization, and keep a close eye on what was going on in France and in Russia.

Other factors like the Lusitania and the Zimmerman Telegram certainly did much to set the stage for the declaration of war. You could add Britain's cutting the German telegraphic cable, Germany's sinking other neutral ships, US loans to Britain, and the ancestry of Wilson and most other Americans as contributing factors.

But I suspect the basic answer is that Wilson wanted to get into the war to prevent unrestricted submarine warfare from putting Britain out of the war. Or perhaps he recognized that unrestricted submarine warfare would mean Germany's sinking many US ships and the alternatives were to 1) cease trade with Britain (unthinkable at the time) 2) put up with loss of American lives and cargo (likewise unthinkable) or 3) go to war.

But Wilson's speech is probably available online. You could google it and come to your own conclusion.
