Actually this is a terrible ruling.

It will be very interesting to see where it goes.

Thanks for the link.

You're very welcome. I was wondering if anyone took the time to read it.

Good point. And let’s legalize rape and murder too because jails don’t stop murder and rape. I think most potheads are missing a few screws upstairs.

You definitely are missing quite a few screws to compare rapists and murderers to pot smokers. Whatever drug you are taking is far worse than pot.

I never said that rapists and drug addicts were moral equals – but the principle behind appeasement fails all basic logic tests.

That said, and since you raised the subject, drug taking and sexual abuse are closely related, if you’ve studied criminology. Predators often use drugs to lure young people.

I view marijuana as no different than alcohol. The harder drugs are a different story, but too many people smoke pot to keep it illegal. That would also focus our rapidly dwindling public resources in the best manner, since we as a nation will be bankrupt soon.

That said, and since you raised the subject, drug taking and sexual abuse are closely related, if you’ve studied criminology. Predators often use drugs to lure young people.

And alcohol is the main drug used to do this.

So you want more of a bad thing? That’s a circular argument.

No. Having worked for the Federal Government for many years, however, I understand what their capabilities are. Whether things are good or bad, the fundamental question is what you want the government, which fails at pretty much everything it does, to do.

I do not think pot is a good thing, I just think the cure is worse than the disease. After 40 years, the government has made no measurable impact on marijuana use at a cost of hundreds of billions of dollars.

It might be different if they could demonstrate some success, but the drug war on pot is like pointing a garden hose at Japan's nuclear reactors and expecting that to solve the problem of core meltdown.

America wants the government to solve all of its problems, unlike previous generations. Instead of being a necessary evil, America depends on government for everything. I guess I feel this way having been to a large extent raised by the WWII generation, who were for the most part self-sufficient, and pretty much used the government to pave roads and fight wars, and pretty much solved the rest of the problems themselves.

They did not need Judge Judy, like we do.
