It is cheap because someone else, other than the employer, is paying the real costs.

Mexicans may have many virtues, but being Americans is not one of them. In the 45 years or so of untrammeled illegal mass immigration into the US, Mexicans have not assimilated. They have grown in separatist and racialist identity (the official slogan of La Raza - 'For Those Inside the Race, everything, for those outside the race, nothing') and have remained in poverty.
Immigrants, illegal immigrants, are parasites that will take WHATEVER OUR GOVERNMENT IS WILLING TO TAKE AWAY FROM US AND GIVE TO THEM. The problem isn't that they'll accept the welfare and other benefits -- the problem is that our government is providing them with the handouts. (You can't reasonably expect peasants to turn down free stuff) The problem is that our government is allowing them to remain on American soil in violation of our laws. The problem is that our government isn't enforcing our employment laws. The problem is the government that we elect.
Yes, your logical conclusion is correct. This is all a result of the 1965 immigration bill (thanks Splash Kennedy) which opened the doors of our country to the dregs of the Third World and did nothing to enforce the laws requiring that people immigrate here legally. Big picture: for the past 40 year or so, our immigration policies and enforcement have been for the benefit for everyone in the world with the exception of the American people. Immigration does not serve our interests, or make us stronger. We are importing ignorance and poverty, and calling it “diversity.” We need the change the entire system, and only allow people to immigrate here who have something to contribute. This is the government’s doing, and we need to elect a government that will change it.
The obvious answer (as we all know) is to do away with the incentives. An excellent start would be to stop granting automatic citizenship to children of people who are here illegally. Sadly our lawmakers aren’t going to go there because they don’t want to lose the Hispanic voting bloc. I’m in Texas and have learned that many legal Hispanics are as outraged over illegal immigration as I am. We Texans are watching helplessly as they take over our state and slowly turn it into the hell hole they came from. Give it another twenty years and Spanish will be the prevalent language here.
Phil Gramm, Kay Bailey Hutchison, John Cornyn, Republicans all, and a whole host of current and former members of the Texas delegation in the House of Representatives are responsible for this. Those still in office should be sent packing. We need fewer of them and more who think like Jim DeMint.
This is no surprise.
I worked at a local health dept during nursing school in N. Virginia. At least 99% of the people I saw there obtaining free health care, WIC, Medicaid, housing, and food stamps were hispanic looking and of course, illegal. Many were from other countries as well. They’d sit there, w/ their huge bellies, carting out brand new unopened car seats that they’d all get for free.
I remember seeing maybe one or two African-Americans and perhaps one elderly person all summer. I saw one white girl, in her early 20’s, and even she was sitting there in disbelief. She told us that she was being denied housing assistance, while all around her, the “Latinos” were getting it.
What I saw ALL DAY LONG were illegals coming in for pregnancy tests. Once they got their little positive purple card, they were escorted over to the Medicaid “window” where they were signed up for benefits and health care.
I’m telling you — IF AMERICANS TRULY KNEW what was going on w/ this ...they’d be steamrolling these parasites OUT and boycotting the American employers who are hiring their gardener boyfriends to do all the jobs around here.
These stats need to be hammered on, day in and day OUT. People really need to understand the scope of this problem..you cut this aid, and bring our troops home, and there would be NO NEED for any of this phony baloney Ryan budget plans, or any other budget plans.
SEND THE DAMN ILLEGALS HOME. BRING BACK OUR TROOPS. PUT THEM ON THE GD BORDER. DONE!!!!
You don’t need an anchor baby to draw welfare. I think the documentation you have to produce is that that shows you reside here - an electric bill, a rent receipt, that kind of thing.
nearly all of our seniors, there aren’t many of us left who aren’t on welfare now.

I certainly hope you are NOT including seniors on SS in that group.
Sorry, but I paid into the system since 1953, ‘double’ since 1995 (self employed) and I feel that I have earned the little bit of change I get each month.
A few years back Clinton made the statement that ‘we’ shouldn’t be complaining about welfare because military retirees, SS recipients and people on welfare have one thing in common “They are receiving a Government Check”, so in his depends what ‘is is’ attitude, he sees no difference.
Next, some of the xenophobes on this thread will be claiming that illegal aliens don’t ‘pay’ their federal income taxes:
There is no way this is true ... we have been told for years this does not happen.
We as a people need to be louder, right?
I work in a hospital so nothing surprises me. I walk past the ER waiting room several times a day and they are all lined up for their “free” medical care. They even bring meals to eat while they pass the time and the patient often has a huge extended family with them. They know their rights and get irritated when an interpreter isn’t instantly available. If they have to be admitted the Mexican consulate literally thumbs their noses at our case management people who attempt to have them transferred to a Mexican hospital. We hemorrhage money taking care of these people and there isn’t a darned thing we can do about it. I think I’m most offended by their unearned sense of entitlement.
I have lived for extended periods of time in Mexico. The Mexican government teaches them, from an early age, that they are entitled. Trouble is, the Mexican government doesn’t have the resources to deliver. But they come here, to a wealthy, First World country, and they expect us provide them with what they think they’re entitled to — and we do. Also, they don’t have the same concept of “earned” and “unearned” that we do.
What a well written and thought out post, LL!
Thank you for this (and all) pings, Jinxy!
At Dallas Parkland Hospital in Texas, it's home to 1000 new illegal alien anchor babies every single month...
At just one Texas hospital.
Profits, regardless of consequences will eventually leave America dead on the floor.
We’ve got a couple of “hospitals” in southern Arizona that actually have a tour package for pregnant women from Central and South America. For a price, they arrange everything for your wonderful vacation at a “hosptial” in southern Arizona at your due date. Instead of going home with an empty Tiki mug and a couple of those little umbrellas, you end your fabulous vacation with a genuine, certified U.S. anchor baby with its own U.S. Birth Certificate. That’s something that even the current President of the United States can’t get.
What you say is interesting. My experience south of the border consists of a few trips to tourist resorts and the occasional shopping trip to Juarez back when it was a safe thing to do. Since the Mexican government doesn’t deliver any entitlements why do they think they should receive any? Many of the illegals around here feel entitled to be here because they believe in Reconquista.
