I'm shocked at the DOJ's suit! /SAR

Last December, DOJ filed suit against the Berkeley, Ill., School Board in federal court in Chicago, claiming it violated Title Seven of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. The act prohibits an employer from discriminating on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin or religion.

No, nobody can go the haj thing, so it’s not discrimination.

But you are allowed to go to Pankot Palace to drink the blood of Kali. Just tell us where to send your stuff in case you wind up being the sacrifice.

The school board’s biggest mistake was not putting her on permanent unpaid leave. Immediately.

But hey, it’s the Chicago Way.

They should have let her take an unpaid leave. No reason necessary i.e. pregnancy, family problems, etc.,

By specifying the Mecca trip - she has made a huge case.

Having her out of the classroom for 3 weeks would have been a good thing. Stupid school board!!!!

There isn’t any discrimination in this case AT ALL. It’s totally fabricated. What she doesn’t have are convictions. If you have convictions, you are willing to pay the price for your beliefs. She is not, she wants someone else to pay the price. She has a choice, either stay as a teacher and just not go to Mecca this year, quit so she can keep her religion(that would be called conviction), or get fired. I’d say she should be fired. The teachers union will probably make the state continue to pay her salary while this goes through court and she will probably win. There is no justice in this country anymore. Let’s see a Christian pull this and see how quickly they get fired, with no recourse.

The overreaching problem with ALL of our national government is it has rejected the founding principles -and our written Constitution and has gone a whoring after other gods. Washington D.C. has been allowed evolve into the image of Sodom-and would have us all be as the fields of Gomorrah.
They can no longer distinguish between good and evil having called evil good and good evil for too long now. The rights of the employer and of the father, and of all authority is diminished in the quest for the anarchists’ vision of Liberty.
This teacher applied for work as an educator—she did not apply for employment as a Muslim Jihadi. When she was refused
her requested vacation-she chose to quit. And that should have been the end of it-except the Democratic Party control
of DOJ wishes to prove it is an enemy to all of America for their messiah has proclaimed his desire to fundamentally change America.Government cannot save us. It cannot produce any Messiah.IT can only lead silly women from the house filled with diverse lusts-it can only destroy those who follow our government.

I can see the can a worms this would open if the courts declared everybody had the right to take a 3 week trip to Mecca.

Employee: "Hey, Mr. Boss. Can I get three weeks off to go to Cancun for spring Break?

Mr. Boss: Of Course Not! Were shorthanded as it is!

Employee: Uhh, did I say Cancun, I meant Mecca. Yeah spring break in Mecca or uhh, what do you call it, a Hajj. You didn't know I was a Muslim? uhh yeah I just converted this morning. You know the law! You have to give me three weeks leave if I claim I'm a Muslim going to Mecca!

“They should have let her take an unpaid leave...”

I disagree. This could set up a precedent for anyone to take a 3 week leave anytime they want... for fasting, for Earth Day, for “discover your inner beauty”... whatever. For three entire weeks, the school has to employ substitutes. Substitutes essentially hand out material but do not really teach anything. Thus, the children would essentially be without instruction for 3 weeks. Teachers typically have Winter break, Spring break and six to eight weeks off during the Summer. American work ethic use to be that a job came first. You were paid money to do a job period.

She wanted to go during the Hajj which is a specific time.

But since Islam uses a lunar calendar, the dates of the Hajj drift from solar year to solar year. In a few years it will happen in the summer. She is under no religious obligation to go at any particular year, she is just supposed to do it at least once per lifetime (if able to).

I suspect this was a setup in order to file a discrimination case.

I wonder if my boss will give me Good Friday and Easter Sunday off? I guess if I want it bad enough I would plan ahead for it. How long has she taught there and why is she complaing now? Seems to me there’s a skunk in the woodpile somewhere.

There are two types of pilgrimage to Mecca: the Umrah and the Hajj. The Umrah can be done anytime of the year, while the Hajj usually follow Ied Adha season. The woman of course can choose to go some other year since according to the lunar calendar the dates moves for about two weeks every year, so it will not fall during the school’s exams period.

I already get Good Friday off, working for a good catholic family has its advantages.
