The Washington Post’s Paul Farhi did his part to help David Brock raise money for Media Matters, writing a long and detailed puff piece on Brock and MM—although, of course, Brock is already raising many millions from ultra-left liberals such as George Soros, Peter Lewis, Susie Tompkins Buell, Rob Glaser, Rachel Pritzker Hunter, Tim Gill and Pat Stryker.
Those are the folks who have hired Brock to smear Fox.
The Democracy Alliance is a donors collaborative established by a group of liberal political activists, labor unions and donors. The group was created in April 2005 in Phoenix, AZ. The attendees at the initial meeting included George Soros, former Clinton White House aides Mike McCurry, Sidney Blumenthal, and LBJ staffer turned PBS talking head Bill Moyers.
Democracy Alliance does its best to keep the details of its members and inner workings under wraps, so complete information is lacking. Prominent members include George Soros, Peter B. Lewis, Susie Tompkins Buell, trial lawyer Guy Saperstein, trial lawyer Fred Baron, movie director Rob Reiner, Norman Lear, Drummond Pike, Rob McKay, Rutt Bridges, Patricia Stryker, Rob Glaser, Rob Johnson, Anne Bartley, Jonathan Heller, Charles Rodgers, Gail Furman, Davidi Gilo, Rachel Pritzker Hunter and the Service Employees International Union.
To become a “partner,” as the members are referred to internally, requires a $25,000 entry fee and annual dues of $30,000 to cover alliance operations as well as some of its contributions to start-up liberal groups. Partners also agree to spend at least $200,000 annually on DA-endorsed organizations.
Media Matters' Editorial Director is Marcia B. Kuntz, who formerly headed the Judicial Selection Project of Alliance for Justice.
Media Matters' president Eric Burns
He most recently served as the communications director for the House Rules Committee and ranking member Louise M. Slaughter (D-NY). Prior to that, Burns was the primary spokesman and a senior adviser to Rep. Chris Bell (D-TX)and a former investment banker.
GEORGE SOROS MEDIA MATTERS HOLDS CONFERENCE CALL TO PLOT DEFEND PLANNED PARENTHOOD
Dana Loesch) It was reported that Alternet, Soros Media Matters, and other progressives staged a conference call this afternoon where they mapped strategy to defend Planned Parenthood from the choices Planned Parenthood staffers made on tape.
The majority of the call was spent discussing ways to discredit Rose because of her funding. They surmise that some group which donates to her pro-life magazine is a group donated to by a group given money by the Koch Brothers. So says people who just cashed a $1 million-dollar check from George Soros.
My new tagline:
I ONLY watch FOX NEWS because “Media Matters”.
MSNBC, which was (at the time) owned by General Electric who received $23 million in funding from the stimulus bill that the Tides Foundation and the Center for American Progress (another Soros funded group) helped write has a dwindling audience to spread misinformation to.
They have new ammunition, Angelo Carusone, who is the founder of StopBeck.com, who has pursued Glenn Becks advertisers tirelessly, watching and reporting on every thing Beck states
“Angelo Carusone received a bachelors degree in American Studies from Fordham University in 2004 and a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2010. Carusone is a former president of the American Parliamentary Debate Association. During college, he competed in four World Universities Debating Championships and over 80 national and international debate competitions. Carusone interned at the Department of Veterans Affairs and also served as a New York City Government Scholar in the Office of Emergency Management. After college, he was a Case Coordinator at Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP and co-managing editor of the nonpartisan 2008Central.net. During law school, Carusone founded the StopBeck effort. Organizing participants via social media, the StopBeck effort has helped hold Glenn Beck accountable by successfully convincing sponsors to cease advertising on Becks show. Carusone is Director of the DropFox campaign at Media Matters for America.”
DropFox Director, Angelo Carusone of StopBeck, Portrays Glenn Beck as Anti-Semite to Kodak
Angelo Carusone, a 28 year old law student and founder of the Twitter based StopBeck campaign, approaches Glenn Beck advertisers and attempts to convince them to stop spending their advertising dollars on Glenn Beck programming. Carusone considers advertisers targets. His method is simple. Once he identifies his target, he messages his 18,000 plus followers on Twitter and asks them to telephone, email, and blog (in effect harass) said advertiser in order to convince them to drop their advertising on Beck programming. Once accomplished, he sends out a Twitter message thanking his followers for all their hard work. He publishes his activities on his website, StopBeck.com, where he also maintains a running tally of his successes.
On top of all that, Alan Colmes is married to Monica Crowley’s sister Jocelyn. Monica is on Fox most nights it seems. I like Monica but these relationships seem too cozy.

Law student puts price tag on Glenn Beck’s words
Angelo Carusone, a 28-year-old Long Island native and competitive debate champion, is a constant presence on Twitter under the moniker @StopBeck
Hey isn’t Fox News “Fair and Balanced”, what’s their problem?/s.
law student Angelo Carusone listens to four hours of Glenn Beck every day and then pushes advertisers to drop their ads from his show. It’s his mission: to make it more and more difficult for Beck to have a platform
The left loves lists.
We are making lists of them now too.
*Quote* Launched in May 2004, Media Matters for America put in place, for the first time, the means to systematically monitor a cross section of print, broadcast, cable, radio, and Internet media outlets for conservative misinformation news or commentary that is not accurate, reliable, or credible and that forwards the conservative agenda every day, in real time.*Unquote*

I have noticed also that Media Matters provides closed captioning for some TV shows, including news, on various channels. This accounts, I think, for some very weird “misprints” of what is actually being said.
Interesting! I have lost faith in Monica Crowley since she embraced the Palin feminism and for some of her views and comments expressed recently; e.g., she admires the “movement toward democracy” in the Middle East, including Egypt....
Saw another article that I posted on the Texas board on this same thing, and that article talked about how they are going to target some “other conservative websites”...
Whatever could they mean by that??? ;-)
Mark Levin spoke about the “criminal front group” Media Matters, March 28, 2011, on the Mark Levin Show:
“I have been using the phrase “criminal front group” to describe this group Media Matters now for many, many years. I have explained in great detail what a 501C3 non-profit, non-partisan charitable organization is under the Internal Revenue Code because I study these things, as does my legal group.
I have also used the phrase “tortuous business interference” for anybody who seeks, including them, to interfere with my program, and so these words [phrases] are getting around now apparently, and these arguments are getting around now, apparently.
When you talk about Media Matters, do as I do, and have done for years. Refer to it as the “criminal front group” Media Matters.
And the reason I call it a “criminal front group” is because it is taking contributions from individuals. Those individuals can deduct them from their own income taxes. Media Matters, being a non-profit charitable organization, does not pay any taxes on it, and yet it basically is a laundering operation that uses tax-exempt money, which people deduct their contributions on their own income taxes from, to amass a huge amount of money-—about $10 million a year-—in order to undertake what are clearly political operations.
And I have been calling on the Internal Revenue Service to audit and investigate the “criminal front group” Media Matters now for several years, and there is absolutely a rock-solid basis to do it.
And if they do it, and I believe one day they may well, they need to make sure they get hold of all emails, all hard drives, all hard paper document communications, and telephone logs because I believe what they will find is a shadowy coordination effort between this organization and, among these organizations this one is the hub, and Democrat operatives, Democrat public officials, and Democrat organizations.
Time has long past for the Internal Revenue Service to do its job.”

If enough people demand the IRS investigate they can't keep ignoring it!
