I couldn’t tell if you were implying that or not, which is why I asked. Thanks for the clarification.
"Men will be men" is an insidious lie that excuses a lack of self-control.
Your argument in favor of contraception is the flimsiest I’ve ever seen. And your attack on Wagglebee was simply inappropriate. Wagglebee has guts, and moral absolutes. You, however, appear to live in a relativistic world, one full of slippery slopes and “whatever works for me”. I hope that changes for you.
Thank you. I have that one bookmarked!
I’m skeptical about attributing family breakdown to contraception because it hasn’t happened in other societies such as Japan. Even though contraception and abortion are legal, Japan has a very low rate of out of wedlock births. I think the real problem is social supports that enable women to raise children without fathers, and the loss of shame in doing so.
Your prophecy may come true for the unenlightened. But it will not look that way to Christians who are true to the Word. They will be lifted up and out. Their most important task in life is to make sure their children witness their leadership-by-example as well as their sincere testimony.
Patrick Fagan studies and statistically analyzes the social impacts of various cultural and legal impacts on marriage and the family. He studies such influences as religion or lack thereof on family formation, longevity and well-being; and he monitors social movements such as the legalization of birth control, the influence of feminism and mothers working outside the home, as well as the effects of gay marriage on societies where it has been legalized, comparing various indications of success or failure both before and after these key changes.
Fagan was with the Heritage Foundation for decades, and has recently been with the Family Research Council, both DC-based think tanks which attempt to counter the relentless Marxism infecting our government. He reads the social science literature of marriage and family, and confers regularly with other family scholars around the world.
That is because of the breakdown of sexual morality caused by contraception, abortion and the pressures on men to ignore the consequences of sex. Most black children grow up without their biological father in the home. Fatherlessness is most of the cause of feral children.
This issue is complicated by the history of enslavement, in which families were broken up; Jim Crow, which denied equal employment to black men; and the history of the welfare system which denied welfare to impoverished parents when the father lived in the home with the mother. It was an impossible vise for many black families. Unfortunately, there was white establishment complicity in these factors up until the 70s, by which time a culture of multitergenerational welfare dependence and a wholesale discouragement and rejection of the "white" work ethic had sprung up.
Lest you imagine that this is simply a race-based phenomenon, the same dependence of socialist welfare and the resulting fatherless families occur in white socialist Scandinavian cultures that have paid unmarried women a stipend during pregnancy and guaranteed them employment and childcare benefits.
