The headline makes it sound as if everybody was killed by the “atomic crisis”.

Preliminary autopsies revealed that 90% of deaths were caused by drowning. Tsunami was the main cause.

I agree with the headline being misleading.
Speaking of radiation, here is the radiation map for the U.S. and updates frequently. The highest readings so far come from Denver.

The headline makes it sound as if everybody was killed by the atomic crisis.Yes, the damned media and its overblown drama queen headlines.
It's sad enough that the toll from the disaster is so high without the suckbag media adding their alarmist spin to it.
And there are plenty of people who will see that headline and run around freaking out and spreading it around.
There are people who get off to that.

Did anyone ever hear or read how much time there was between the earthquake, and the approach of the tsunami?
With such a monster earthquake so close to land, there must not have been much time to evacuate.
I wish we could do more to help the Japanese. Words fail.

Yup, most of the dead/missing are actually from the tsunami.

I heard many were hit when they were about to pack and run.

Yes, well we all know that it was the meltdown that caused the earthquake.

Did anyone ever hear or read how much time there was between the earthquake, and the approach of the tsunami? With such a monster earthquake so close to land, there must not have been much time to evacuate. The quake was only 78 miles offshore and the wave traveled 400-500 miles per hour. They only had about 9-10 minutes. No chance at all...

Think it would be helpful if Ms. Olivia Hampton were to receive some notes that clarify her error per this headline. Doubt she recognizes her error.

She probably didn’t write the headline.

Preliminary autopsies revealed that 90% of deaths were caused by drowning. Tsunami was the main cause.I've heard reports of the tsunami warnings being issued anywhere between 8 to 30 minutes before the wave hit depending upon the location. Someone better take a look, after critical needs have been met, at why so many people drowned. What percentage were folks who couldn't leave (elderly, disabled, hospitalized, folks w/out transpo, just not enough time) and those who chose not to leave. Can't do much about the last group, but I really wonder about the wisdom of siting hospitals, retirement homes, schools, etc. so close to the coastline.
Continuing prayers for the people of Japan and all in harm's way.

Oh, good chance 'Guardian' wrote this; but it is her name on it. That said, as Correspondent for The Guardian, based in D.C.; Olivia has quite a presence, so who knows. But no matter; good to get the feedback.
(Not that it matters; other than to let these folks know; the non-and-never-Progressives were not raised by Barnum & Baily and not so easily fooled as they imagine.)
