The problem with tossing the social issues aside in a candidate is that those issues end up costing us money!

The candidates that aren't conservative on the social issues are ok with throwing more money in the form of funding where gov. needs to scram.

Nope, you can't disregard the social and pretend it won't effect the fiscal.

All else being equal, I would cede your point.

But I won’t.

In my opinion it is not right/left which is currently the metric by which the GOP (and America) are heading into obscurity.

It is b@lls.

We have for 3 decades become a party and a country which is forever backing down. We give away our factories. We give away our jobs. We give away the Panama Canal. We give away hundreds of billions to other countries.

We give, and we give, and we don’t know when to look out for America.

Well. We did it. We spent it all. Now we’re broke.

The GOP is broke of ideas and the willingness to confront what is wrong. And America is broke.

What we’ve been doing has FAILED. And nobody - on the right or the left, is willing to even talk about it.

WE ARE DESTROYING OUR OWN COUNTRY.

We should stop digging, and do something new. America first.

>>>Mostly NY & NJ. Both Dems & Reps. He knows how it works. You have to buy influence. NY is a rabid leftist state.<<<

a) Does the fact that he might have simply been buying off politicians make it better? Some here are saying how Trump will “stand up to the Chinese, OPEC and the Democrats”. If he has spent his whole life kissing up to and buying off petty politicians, rather than standing up to them, why would any believe he will stand up to anybody?

b) Read his books and quotes. He mostly AGREES with the Liberals he contributed to. He is pro-abortion, pro-”assault weapons” ban, pro-union, and supported SINGLE PAYER government run healthcare.

I’m not sure if this egomaniac has any real, strongly held beliefs, other than the Donald Trump must be exalted, but to the extent he has any beliefs, they are mainly Liberal ones.

He has made multiple donations to rats like Hillary Clinton, Harry Reid, Charlie Rangel, Bob Mendendez, Chuck Schumer, Dick Durbin.

What I find amazing is FReepers almost unanimously despise Mitt Romney, but many embrace Trump. At least Romney doesn't treat marriage like a 2-year contract.

Agree. I despise Romney, but Trump is 10 times worse than Willard.

And what makes you think Trump will “stand up for Amercia”.

What has he ever done for America?

He bows down to Democrat, Socialists by giving money to their campaigns. What makes you think he would stand up to anybody?

Trump is all about TRUMP FIRST. That is his right, but to support such a man for POTUS is insane.

I’d like to hear what Trump has to say about collective bargaining rights for public employee unions.

This is an exercise to burnish his brand. Give the name some credibility to the schlubs he is trying to draw into his multi-level marketing scam.

Trump knows Business.

He knows PR.

He’s familiar with winning - important.

He’s the only person since Duncan Hunter to *dare* mention how our trade policy is national economic suicide.

He’s right. On almost every issue he’s resonating, because like Rush Limbaugh he’s saying what so many think, but are afraid to say.

Demagogues always blame our problems on someone else. We are killing our selves with our one domestic policy insanity. Our fate is entirely in our own hands.

Trump said:"... but I support the ban on assault weapons ..."

Somebody please ask him why he is against having plastic pistol grips or bayonet lugs on a rifle.

Trump will be in way over his head.

I agree with you. We need Obama out. Looking at our current crop of potentials, I am surprised to say it, but he is a front runner in my book.

The focus needs to be on this economy and jobs and he knows that world. He’s failed a few times and come back from it. Right there that tells me he is far more qualified than Obama and/or the other repubs in the running currently.
