Worth repeating. ;)
I love riding trains and like the idea of HSR; this plan is a failure from the gate. There is no way this will ever work out as proposed. — My city, Bakersfield, is a starting point for it.
If you can get a 350mph cross country train with ~7 stations end-to-end, you might have something.
