Can Alaska get in on the shale oil boom that is sweeping the Lower 48,,,,

The only thing sweeping is the price of gasoline

It is sweeping upward in a big hurry.

one day we will drill and be the largest producer of oil in the world.

Rockefeller and Texas wildcatters didn't have Obama to subsidize them they just spent their money and we had all the oil we needed.

They talk about white euro Americans lying to Indians, why not talk about those same people's grandchildren lying to Alaskans?

I agree, but I would hope that we also work hard to develop legitimate alternative energy sources so that this issue of oil doesn’t continue to hold us ransom. The faster we lower our dependence on oil the stronger we will be as a nation, and if we develop the technology it will be something we can sell to the rest of the world. We should use the security and economic stability that comes from using our own resources to come up with new ways to ensure our security and economic stability far into the future.

OMG....don’t anyone tell the Department of Energy about this. They’ll shut it all down in a heartbeat.

I firmly believe that there is not just oil and gas nearly everywhere in the US, but probably the world!

They just found a huge oil reserve under Israel.

There are hydrocarbons available for extraction all over. We just need the fortitute to get it!

I think the latest energy direction will be in vibro-ionic jello - stick some wires in a big blob of it and give ‘er a shake....if you are in an earthquake prone area, all the better....

Here's one way to do it. Who's holding us back?

Rockefeller’s legacy left behind the massive funding of the liberalism we have today.

We have the resources, it is called nuclear energy. It is far safer death and health wise than carbon fuels. Carbon fuels cost many lives in war and in recovery and they cause numerous health issues in the homes -asthma etc.

I’m not talking about existing technology, so I don’t have a definitive answer for you. Eventually, fusion will happen, but it’s hard to know how long this will be. The hype and let down of the ‘cold fusion’ fiasco has led many to believe that fusion-based energy of some sort will never come to fruition, but these types of hype driven setbacks happen in science all the time, and are overcome eventually by doing good science and grinding it out.

I have always felt that standard nuclear power plants should be used more than they are, and I would start there while waiting for other things to come along. We should be able to come up with better designs that make them even safer, and better ways to dispose of nuclear waste.

2074? The ‘’progressive liberals’’ have assured us, we’ll be exstinct by then, due to globull warming. Oh joy!! Got a grand kid or 2 you want to donate? Course this’ll mean the destruction of a lot of liberals too.

Very good news indeed, with one dark spot:

Duncan then addressed another challenge that all want-to-be commercial projects face by pulling out a slide with Wood Mackenzie data that compared the ability to execute projects in Alaska compared to other petroleum provinces, including all the major oil producing countries in the world. Alaska ranked 129 out of 141, in large part because of the impediments the federal government has put on companies trying to develop on and offshore Alaska leases.

That is a shame, actually. Think where we'd be if the federal government didn't impede private industry so.
