I guess Jeffs is following in Joseph Smith’s footsteps.

In the revelations, God is speaking directly to "the honorable President of the United States of America." He instructs the President to "cause that the prosecutors, now cease their attack upon my servant Warren Jeffs."

That's about as transparent and stupid as making up "scripture" to make your wife allow you "do" little girls. Oh wait...

Polygamist prophet Warren Jeffs of the FLDS Church is sending "A Warning to the Nation" that catastrophe awaits unless he is freed and the FLDS people get back control of the land in the United Effort Plan Trust.

Jeffs is simply walking in the grand tradition started by Joseph Smith.

In the History of the Church, written by Joseph Smith -- and added/fleshed out by Lds general authority B.H. Roberts -- a footnote is referenced to an affidavit given in Missouri in 1838 by the person who had been "First President" to Smith, Thomas B. Marsh.

The chief points in the affidavit of Thomas B. Marsh, referred to in the text, are as follows: "They have among them a company, considered true Mormons, called the Danites, who have taken an oath to support the heads of the Church in all things that they say or do, whether right or wrong. Many, however, of this band are much dissatisfied with his oath, as being against moral and religious principles. On Saturday last, I am informed by the Mormons, that they had a meeting at Far West, at which they appointed a company of twelve, by the name of the 'Destruction Company,' for the purpose of burning and destroying, and that if the people of Buncombe came to do mischief upon the people of Caldwell, and committed depredations upon the Mormons, they were to burn Buncombe, and if the people of Clay and Ray made any movement against them, this destroying company were to burn Liberty and Richmond. * * * * The Prophet inculcates the notion, and it is believed by every true Mormon, that Smith's prophecies are superior to the laws of the land. I have heard the Prophet say that he would yet tread down his enemies, and walk over their dead bodies; and if he was not let alone, he would be a second Mohammed to this generation, and that he would make it one gore of blood from the Rocky mountains to the Atlantic ocean; that like Mohammed, whose motto in treating for peace was, 'the Alcoran or the Sword.' So should it be eventually with us, 'Joseph Smith or the Sword.' These last statements were made during the last summer. The number of armed men at Adam-ondi-Ahman was between three and four hundred.
"Thomas B. Marsh.
"Sworn to and subscribed before me, the day herein written.
"Henry Jacobs,
"J. P. Ray county, Missouri.
"Richmond, Missouri, October 24, 1838."

So there ya go...as go Jeffs...so went Smith...Marsh, a Mormon "apostle" who left the church said he "heard the Prophet say that he would yet tread down his enemies, and walk over their dead bodies; and if he was not let alone, he would be a second Mohammed to this generation, and that he would make it one gore of blood from the Rocky mountains to the Atlantic ocean; that like Mohammed, whose motto in treating for peace was, 'the Alcoran or the Sword.'"

He said he heard during the Summer of 1838.

We just happen to have this July 27, 1838 entry in a Joseph Smith journal:
July 27th [1838] [For] Some time past the brethren or Saints have come up day after day to consecrate and to bring their offerings into the store house of the Lord to prove him now herewith and se[e] if he will not pour us out a blessings that there will not be room enough to contain it. They have come up hither. Thus far, according to order /revelation/ of the Danites. We have a company of Danites in these times, to put right physically that which is not right, and to cleanse the Church of every [very?] great evil[s?] which has hitherto existed among us inasmuch as they cannot be put to right by teachings and persuasyons. This company or a part of them exhibited on the fourth day of July [-] They come up to consecrate, by companies of tens, commanded by their captain over ten. (An American Prophet’s Record: The Diaries and Journals of Joseph Smith, 198, Scott H. Faulring, editor. Brackets retained from the original.)

Warren Jeffs is not a prophet, a Mormon, nor IMHO a good American. I have nothing more to say about him past if he followed Joseph Smith he would be obeying the law of the land. He is not following Joseph Smith.

But he SAYS he is a prophet. How can you be so sure?

And I don’t know how you can say he isn’t following Joseph Smith. How can you say that?

He can't.

Jeffs has as legitimate a claim to the title “prophet” as Joe Smith did, and following the law of the land? Yeah right, tell me another one General Smith...

Yup. Just announcing yourself as a prophet and getting a lot of people to follow you doesn’t prove a single thing. What’s the difference between Smith, Monson (present LDS “prophet”) and Jeffs? Nothing, they are both false.

I’d say that Joseph Smith was a serious, serial, in-your-face lawbreaker and Jeffs is truer to his legacy in that department. Monson seems to be behaving within the civil laws, anyway.

Still waiting anyway for Monson to make a prophecy. Then it will become scripture just like all of the other prophets of the LDS church. Right?

Let’s see, what about Hinkley. Are they still typing up the new scripture that poured forth from his mouth?
