I heard a news story one night that included the words, “...Mr. Smith, one of 6 Vice Presidents of the school,...”, and was blown away.
I worked as a consultant for many years and one of my engagements was with Denver Public Schools. They had a number of NEA, National Education Assosication, employees assign to consult with DPS to teach them how to spend the money and ask for more. They did all kinds of “studies”, using PhD candidates from the local universities to perform the studies. This was a win-win as the candidates were given basically a free research project and the school system was spending money.
The overhead here in Colorado for the education ssytem is beyond criminal.
In my schools they had 1 Principal and 2 assistant Principals on average. Usually 1-3 clearks of various sorts and a janitorial and building maintenance staff of maybe 6 people. We had 350-1500 students thorughout my school days. Never did we have the employee head count they have today and even then the education system costs were conidered too high.
I was in a Chicago public school system. It was really very good. I was in eighth grade when we learned of Kennedy being shot. Our teacher, who was also the assistant principal walked us through that time.
I regret sending my kids to public school in Peoria, IL. Total waste.
I don’t know what the head count is these days....I do know that, like the post office, the costs go higher, and the quality lower.
I recall having mail delivered the Sunday before Christmas. Post office open all day Saturday.
What is the price of a stamp now, 43 cents. 43 cents?!!!!!!
I don’t know what the budget is for the federal dept of education started under Carter? What the h*ll good to they do?
Dissolve the whole damn thing.
Amtrak? Amtrak? Privatize it.
Dept of Energy? What the h*ll do they do?
Dissolve the whole damn thing.....
NPR? Why?
Sing it, Brother Nikos!
I remember when Carter came out with the Dept of Ed. Everyone knew what a waste and federal intrusion it was.
Dept of Energy? I’ve worked with them. Useless. Completely useless. They PREVENT energy research by regulating private companies from such research then giving away the exact research project to someone else under their control using taxpayer money. I’ve witnessed energy companies bailing on projects and permanently withholding all future research efforts because of the DoE. The energy industry line is, “If it’s not DoE it ain’t happening.” I have friends now working for DoE that were with commercial companies 20 years ago. DoE has absorbed their functions.
And the first to go should be those illegally absent "educators"!
