I’ll try not to get stuck in the mud this time..

But it will take wild horses to keep me from showing up. Knees are all good to go, especially as compared to last summer.

I might even have a job in DFW area by then. I’m unemployed at the moment. Have been since 1 Jan. Had an interview with a company over by Six Flag, Ballpark, Cowboy stadium. really really close SF and Ballpark. They told me you can hear the screams/cheering if you step outside. And you can see some rides from their building.

Anyone remember how many tries it took Mr Professional Gun Dude to hit that jug of Tannerite? Way too many as I recall. :)

In the town where I grew up, we had an old lady who lived alone, with no electricity, out on what was then the edge of town (Today, if her house was still there, my brother could see it from his deck). She was called “Bloody Mary”. The college kids harassed her all the time. She went with the rock salt. At first. Eventually shifted to shooting out their car or spot lights with a .22.

She really was not a bad old gal. Actually was a friend of my Dad’s family, neighbor to the “old home place” where my Great Uncle lived. I met her once when Dad gave her a ride “into town” when I was along.

But the shotgun was only loaded with rock salt for the kids. Apparently before she went to bed, she loaded it up with something more appropriate for repelling boarders. One cold night, a transient, read BUM, broke into her house, probably thinking it abandoned and empty. Well I should say he tried to break in. Got the kitchen window at the bottom of the stairs open and was climbing in, when she literally blew his fool head off. Unhinged the old gal somewhat. Her family moved her to a rest home after that. Her great niece and great nephew were in my university AFROTC detachment, as well as having gone to my high school before that.

Search on “Bloody Mary” “Lincoln Nebraska” for the story, it’s out there.

You will love having a grand baby. They are such a treat.

Indeed they are. I have three.

Two of them are identical twins. That makes me twice the Grandpa, or so I'm told. They do always yell "Grandpa Grandpa" when they see me. Each of them. So they agree, twice the Grandpa. :)

Hopefully there won’t be any mud next time...

Good deal on the knees, not so much with work...

Hope things work out and we have another North TX FReeper!

We have some hella weather around here but I havent seen a tsunami in this hemisphere LoL

Tsunami's are not weather, they are often mis-called "tidal waves" and they are no respecters of hemispheres. They are caused by earthquakes under or near the ocean. (Usually, there can be other causes, like a big ass rock from space splashing down. :) ) Maybe you were thinking of Typhoons? That's what Tropical Cyclones that get big enough are called in the Western Pacific and Indian oceans In the Atlantic and Eastern Pacific, they are called Hurricanes. :)

Best thing about that was when Charlie offered his gun, saying it is sighted in perfect for 100 yards.

That took Mr. Show Off down a few pegs.

those radishes that look like white carrots they are hot

Horse radishes? Had an old German guy in the area where I grew up that grew them, and made horseradish sauce in his garage. When he passed on, they had to tear the thing down, every piece of metal in it was all ate up. Talk about corrosive. :)

(But I am really from Houston. LOL)

So? T. E. Lawrence was a Brit, actually born in Wales. He was a bastard.:) The second of five illegitimate sons of Sir Thomas Chapman, an Anglo-Irish baronet, and Sarah Junner, who had previously been employed in the Chapman household as governess to Thomas's four legitimate daughters.

Don’t you know tornados are a year ‘round thing?

When I was stationed in an OK City 'burb, we had the last Tornado WARNING in late November. The first one the next year was in mid January. :) Got out of there quick. I've been living in Central Texas and the northern edge of South Texas for 12 years now, many fewer down that way, but they do appear at odd times.

I shall be burned in effigy, and my coffee symbolically riddled with rounds!

Symbolically? What fun would that be?

More fun to put out a few paper cups of the brew at extremely long range (for the class of weapons) , and see who can hit one first, or hit the most. Restrict to a single type of weapon, ie. handgun, 5.56 or 7.62x39 carbine etc.

Except for the fact that I live a thousand miles away, no longer have any guns I would want to show off, and that I am in poor health, I would be there.

Depending on the nature of your Poor Health, none of those are serious impediments. Flying Southwest into Love field, closest airport to the "range", is relatively cheap.

We're a friendly bunch and will loan you something, or several somethings to shoot. The third shoot (I think it was the 3rd) , I loaned my .22/45 to FrouFrou, and she liked it, first time we could get her to shoot much. Second one I let TheGirl, (daughter of the Mom and now accomplished skydiver and brave conservative/Redneck intruder at Columbia U) shoot my M1 Carbine. Others do the same. I rememvber at Shoot 1, TheMom offered to let me shoot her Glock. She didn't know me as anything other than a screen name at that point, but she trusted me with her gun. :)

Just following TC's example, the one time I met him, he was letting all comers have a go with his Big Fifty "sniper" rifle. :) (besides supplying the steak, taters, grill to cook 'em on, Texas toast, etc, etc)

We should prolly do breakfast before the shoot at the Cotton Gin again..

Maybe I'll be able to find it this time. Dang nabbed map sites..

If I do that, maybe there'll be less chance of getting stuck in the mud again.. I'll ride down the levee with someone else. :)

I've been on FR ten years today!

Gotcha beat, well over 12 years. But then I am old as dirt. :)

You know how hard it is to get a job when you're old as dirt?

Heck even Cypress has special plumbing

Even Humble has it. (Take that as you will) Even my Grandmother had it.. well not when they first moved to their place shortly after I was born. I remember when they did not have it, but they got it in the late '50s or early '60s. I remember the last move of the "little building". After that it didn't get used enough to need moving.

Hope things work out

Thanks, I've got my fingers, and toes, crossed, Seems like good people there. When i asked about working hours, the Boss lady said. Well we have core hours from 9 to 3, but we have several who don't function well that early, and we really don't care if they come in a little later, as long as they can still coordinate with their team. Mentally I was jumping up and down yelling "Out FReeping Standing!". :)

But even 9 is livable, if I don't have to drive too far and the work is sufficiently interesting, which it seems to be.

So?

Don't you "So?" me.

I'll say what I choose on here - if you find it trivial or offensive, just don't read it.

I'm pulling for you getting a job and I know how tough that can be (been there, done that), but there is no need for you to try to trivilaize everything I post.

It isn't sporting and it denigrtes you, not me.

It remains to be seen if there will be a football season...

Yeah, ol' Murphy is messing around in things again. The first time since '03 that I plan to be home for the whole season and they're threatening a lockout.

If the NFL does add two more games a season, I suspect they'll lose a lot of season ticket holders.

I will likely be one of them.

Well, the actual brew at the range shall be blasted to tiny bits repeatedly.
That way people can afterwards brag that they’ve actually had coffee that was shot to ..er..
