“The rule is ludicrous and needs to go. If you’re going to stagger the primaries, at least you should rotate the order so that all states eventually get their chance to be near the front.”

My solution...

No primaries until the month of July....no primaries after the month of July.

Three months of slugging it out between the two nominees and then we all vote.

Cheaper, shorter....more to the point.

And I think the voters would be more interested if the cycle was much shorter....attention span and all.

January of 2012....9 months?

Really?

Thats just too long a primary season, IMHO

The Iowa caucus is a small state...and the structure isn't susceptible to big ad bucks.

Bull. Iowa is corrupt. It'll go for anyone who says "Ethanol" and "Jesus" in the same breath.

How do registered “Independent” voters vote in your state’s primaries?

In Florida?
They don’t!

Get off it! Did I say Iowa wasn't corrupt? Did I say anything about "Ethanol" or "Jesus"?

No. I did not.

What I did say was that: a. it was a caucus state. Was I correct in that assertion?

b. it was a relatively small state. Do you approve of that description?

c. the structure of the primary wasn't susceptible to big ad bucks. Do you want to argue with that?

If you've got a problem with Iowa and Iowans, fine.

But don't take your bad manners out on me.

OK, just curious. I’m not a Republican anymore but always vote in the republican primary. I’ve never in my life voted for a democrat but in the last election for senate, I had a choice between a democrat, a gun grabbing, pro abortion, cap and trade pushing, homo rights advocate, “republican” or a pro life libertarian for the U.S. Senate, I voted for the Libertarian.

The so called “republican” won anyway. His name is Mark Kirk. I’m only wondering if he will come out of the queer closet before or after he switches to the rat party.

More on the homo “Republican”:

‘But don’t take your bad manners out on me.’

There is way too much of that going on a year before the primaries start.

They have libertarians in the Congo?

I joined the Illinois message board and lived to regret it. Someone was copying and pasting reams of messages there and they appeared on my “news/activism” page, I had to scroll and scroll and scroll just to get past it.

I tried to find a way to get off that list but could not. I did however, figure out a way to change to another, so I changed to the Congo, assuming that I would get very few messages there.

So far, zero.

OK, if I had to choose between Mark Kirk, a Dem, or a Libertarian, I could well have voted that way myself, at least when it became clear that we weren’t going to get to 51 Senators.

I checked the Congo page — no posts since 2004 (about Terry Schiavo).

Frankly, I don’t care how much ethanol they make from corn but I DO care, a great deal in fact, that they are using MY tax money to strongly subsidize the venture!

If corn ethanol is such a good deal let it stand of fail in the market place without any government influence!
