News to me.
Statewide 19.6% of the population is black, 4.8% Asian, and 6.7% Latino. Obama will get most of those votes. Turnout will be key. And then there are federal government employees, contractors, and a host of other parasites who live off the body politic. VA is turning purple. The question is how well Obama will be able to get out the liberal vote.
Warner was a terrible governor unless you like to be taxed to death.
Next up, Joe Manchin, WV
You mean that hypocrite that shot the healthcare bill in his campaign ad but voted against repeal the first chance he got?
That lying jerk should be tarred and feathered.
The exodus of 400,000 democrats after Katrina doesn’t hurt either. LOL
You mean the ex Governor who is under investigation, Joe Manchin?
Yes he needs to be indicted and kicked out of office, that lying POS.
Well as Party Chair, Kaine lost a couple congressional seats in 2010 in VA. He took a shellacking and they look to him to win in VA when the wind it at the Republican’s backs?
Right! Go ahead!
I didn’t say that Manchin doesn’t have an election in 2012. I said there is no way he will retire voluntarily.
Most Excellent - thanks !
Immigration, Political Realignment, and the Demise of Republican Political Prospects
John Kerry won Fairfax County in 2004, the first time a Dem had won the county in 40 years. Obama sailed to victory in 2008. The GOP strategy now in Presidential and statewide elections is to get as close to 50-50 as possible and make up the shortfall in the southern part of the state. In state politics, the Dems have virtually taken over all of the Senate seats in NoVa, which is why the Dems control the VA Senate. Due to the 2010 census, an additional state senate seat will be shifted to NoVA.
My point is that VA is no longer a solid red state. And NC is going to be tougher to hold on to in the future. By 2023 half of the children 18 and under will be minorities as defined by the USG and by 2042 half of the country will be minorities.
The U.S. adds one international migrant (net) every 36 seconds. Immigrants account for one in 8 U.S. residents, the highest level in more than 80 years. In 1970 it was one in 21; in 1980 it was one in 16; and in 1990 it was one in 13. In a decade, it will be one in 7, the highest level in our history. And by 2050, one in 5 residents of the U.S. will be foreign-born. Immigrants and minorities vote mostly Dem.
Currently, 1.6 million legal and illegal immigrants settle in the country each year; 350,000 immigrants leave each year, resulting in net immigration of 1.25 million. Since 1970, the U.S. population has increased from 203 million to 310 million, i.e., over 100 million. In the next 40 years, the population will increase by 130 million. Three-quarters of the increase in our population since 1970 and the projected increase will be the result of immigration. The U.S., the worlds third most populous nation, has the highest annual rate of population growth of any developed country in the world, i.e., 0.977% (2010 estimate), principally due to immigration.

I said there is no way he will retire “voluntarily”
Maybe the folks in WV will “voluntarily” retire him in 2012.
He’s a lying POS, who is under investigation as governor.
