I was busy!
Me too (busy)
A couple years ago the boy and I were out for breakfast, F1 racing on the big screens. Forget where the race was, somewhere in Europe - major type rain.
The camera focuses on a sharp RH turn, a car slid off the track and into the gravel - stuck. They send the tow trucks and safety vehicles out - local yellow - still raining.
The camera view changes to now looking at the exit of the turn, across the field of gravel, stuck car, safety vehicles, but you can't see what is coming INTO the turn.
We were both just gob-smacked at what happened next.
Car after car, we saw 11, came into the turn - at speed - sideways, backwards (just a flash through the camera view) - and off into the rest of the growing number of cars in the gravel pit.
Just amazing that no one was killed or hurt. I was thinking that either they couldn't see the emergency flashing lights or they ignored the caution lights or the caution lights were not far enough away from the turn....or what ever.......
I told the boy, "imagine if Nascar did rain?"
About 3 months later they ran the NW race in Canada - in the rain!
The boy says, "I hope they watched that F1 race that we saw...."
Yep, 3400 lbs / 850 hp and water - not a good combo!
flickin tween the golf tourny and the ARCA race......not bad racin either
I was watching the ARCA until I got a summons to report for garden duty :(
I see it is still going. Was that boy hurt after hitting the wall?
OK, so your trying to convince us that NASCAR shouldn't race in rain and you make an excellent point.
First I did admit that not all tracks could handle this.
But name me one short track where the speeds are down where they couldn't do it. In fact, I believe they have designed water tires that have not been used. (Not sure)
I don't want anyone to get hurt.
This is a show equal to any Vegas show. They should take advantage of the rain factor.
Can you hear the feedback? Wow, did you see those guys spinning out yesterday? Potential pure entertainment.
BUDWEISER SHOOTOUT PING - ON FOX 8pm ET
No he got out - had red shoes on = lucky.
We’re gonna find out real quick how Steve and Jr do :) I think luck has changed since he finally drew the pole. Loops data stats which have only been collected the last 5 years,
Percent Of Laps Led: Shootout - 1. Dale Earnhardt Jr., 19.4 -2.Edwards, 18.2 - 3. Kyle Busch, 16.6 - 4. Harvick, 11.1 - 5. Stewart, 10.1
Shootout Loop Stats Last 5 years only - Laps led 1. Dale Earnhardt Jr., 71 - 2. Carl Edwards, 54 - 3. Kyle Busch, 49 - 4. Tony Stewart, 37
Thanks for that update as I had to heed old whatshername or no fresh dungeness crab for me as she was steaming mad at me for no good reason. Women... can’t get along with them and you can’t get along without them.
(please don’t tell her I said that)
I saw a Dale Earnhardt Wheaties box at the store.
So the real sports starts tonight?
Thank you............ I’m glad the break is over.
Wow, Logano had a 203 mph lap in practice! That new surface will make for 3-wide racing. The 24 hours of Daytona sportscar race had several NASCAR drivers joining teams. There was JJ, Montoya and ‘Dinger.
Daytona as of a few minutes ago from press box.
