That’s an outrageous comparison.
i didnt start the thread but most were commenting there.
i picked this up from a veteran mid east journalist veteran.
John Simpson on BBC: “I’ve been through several revolutions, and I’ve never seen any leader succeed once it’s gone this far. This is a revolution”
Isolationist (from your Saddam comment), unwilling to provide proof that the Muslim Brotherhood isn’t a danger to our interests in Egypt, and now you can’t even take it when someone rightly points out your article was previously posted.
Greaaaat.
Hardly, I am warning that if we don't push democracy, a theocracy will take over. Egypt is a muslim country, home of Zawahiri and most of the operations leadership of al qaeda. There will be a muslim government. We now get to help decide how radical it will be.

I need more than your say-so that MB is mainstream.
Don’t think re-shuffling the deck is going to work.
Somebody tell me who the Democrats are cheering for so I'll know who to be against.
Obama’s already behind this uprising, 100%. He’s also trying to appear as a reasonable moderate by urging Mubarak to bring on democracy and economic opportunity as he’d promised. Mubarak’s response is to fill an office which had been kept vacant, probably illegally, for three decades, in order to point toward a peaceful transition in the event.
Obama’s previous interference, as we all remember, was in Costa Rica.
Before that, Kenya.
Where did I make that claim about the Muslim Brotherhood? Good grief. Are the Knights of Columbus "largely secular", too?
As I said in my many comments about the MB, they are not GENERALLY radicalized in Egypt, however, they are much more radicalized elsewhere.

The MB is the largest opposition party in the Egyptian government, with many elected officials all over Egypt. That qualifies as mainstream.
Al Jazeera saying the protestors will not accept anyone with anything to do with Mubarak and his henchmen and that includes Mubaraks 2 appointment.
The crowds are apparently getting bigger.
I am upgrading Egypt on Hollywood Crisisometer from “Windy Britney” to “Full Level Lohan” levels as things take a turn for worse.
I agree with the points quoted above.
If Jordan radicalizes, big, big trouble for Israel and America.
Subjectively yes, objectively no. Within the muslim society, the MB plays largely the same role as the K of C in America. What is outrageous is that the muslim society is so much more religiously driven that it can justify murder and the denial of basic human rights.
Agreed, Egyptians will see Omar as a continuation of the dictatorship.
So you are asking us to embrace a GENERALLY radical non-secular Islamic group, as opposed to supporting the (probably doomed) Mubarik.
Are you nuts?
this could go very bad, apparently all Cairo police stations have been raided by looters and protestors. Many many arms taken.
One little spark will be all this takes to flash this.
I pray to go we dont end up in a bloodbath.
Are you Islamic, yourself? Only then could I understand your incredible reach.
That's like saying that Hamas is mainstream because they run Gaza.
Mainstream, to me, implies 'acceptable to western interests'. If you define mainstream as 'furthering radical islamic interests', you become an opponent of mine.
