Thats why copts are randomly attacked by mobs of muslims? Dont preach to me how lovey dovey the relationship is, I know better.
Mustafa Mashhur, who was the supreme guide of the muslim brotherhood until his death says that christians should not serve in the army because they cant be trusted, they also should not hold top government positions past the pariliament. Islamists in Egypt generally want the jizya tax to be reinstated. In case you are unfamiliar with this tax, it is a tax levied on non-muslims simply because theyre not muslim.
The law in Egypt is that Coptic churches cant be repaired or constructed. So if there is an act of vandalism or arson or a bomb they cannot fix the church.
Crimes in the past year include:
1) Police officer shooting at 7 christians in a train station killing a 71 year old man.
2) New year church bombing killing 21.
3) A mob of roughly 3000 muslims attacked a christian village, where the 400 copts barricaded themselves in the church while the mob destroyed 18 homes, 23 shops, and 16 cars.
4)Muslim mob opens machine gun fire on group of coptic christians while they were celebrating the egyptian birth of christ.
5) Group of muslims open fire and kill 2 coptic christians on easter.
(Notice how all these attacks are in and around christian holidays, shows even more how tolerant and loving the muslims are towards the copts.) This is all happening while mubarak who has practically locked down the extremists as much as he could, god knows what will happen when the muslim brotherhood take power, and they will that much is certain.
This is not a good thing for egypts minorities, not at all.
Many of the attacks on Copts are by non-Egyptians that travel to Egypt for jihad as they think Copts are available as punching bags, that's too bad.
The Copts stand to really gain if Mubarak is gone, he was not much of a friend. Jizja ended in 1855, many Copts serve in the Egyptian Army.
Muhammad's Egyptian wife preached kindness towards Copts, the Koran says: "Be kind to the Copts for they are your protégés and kith and kin".
Of course there are many jihadists that will continue to attack the Copts, but their position in Egypt is very secure. Far more Americans have been killed by jihadists than Copts.
As far as church construction goes, there are unfair restrictions on the building of new churches only. However new churches are being built. Pope Shenouda III consecrated a new church in honor of Saint Thomas the Anchorite on Jan. 10th, 2009 near the Monastery of Saint Thomas in Akhmim, Sohag, Egypt:

I think so. It showed that dictators are not the infallible Gods that cannot be removed, that the dictators propagandize themselves to be. The execution of Saddam showed that the people can take charge and then make thier own country. I honestly hope that things turn out to be in our best interest.
