At this point, there is not much choice. Everything, I’d say, with the exception of the military, the national debt, social security and medicare.

FReepers have a list around here somewhere.
It looks like the alphabet. EPA, NLRB, FCC, NEA, DHS...

I think a 20% across the board. and only 10% for the military.

Yet most Americans could not volunteer a program they'd be willing to see cut in order to reduce the deficit ...Call me, CBS News. You can even reverse the charges. But you better give the person who calls me the heads up that they can expect to be on the phone for a while.

I don’t think any program should be protected. If we don’t cut it...it won’t matter if it all falls apart!

The deficit is $1.3 trillion. The 2010 military budget was $685 billion. You can’t eliminate all of the military spending. Even if you placated the libs and cut a massive $300 billion from the military, you’d still need $1 trillion worth of cuts to balance the budget. In short, their whining about the military is useless. You can’t balance this budget on the back of the military.
To: Halo-JM
Democrats and independents were more likely to favor cuts to defense spending than Republicans,The hell you say.

Pass a law promising jail time to any public official who directly or indirectly provides any taxpayer benefit or service to an illegal alien.
Eleminate Dept of Education.
Cut 95% of EPA’s budget..........
Defund public broadcasting, art’s.
I could go on, but it’s just too easy.

I agree with you, but everything needs to be cut! If we don’t do what is needs to be done...everything will be done with!

While I do not advocate cutting funding for active duty forces (pay and necessary maintenance and operations), DoD as a whole is just as bloated as any other gubmint bureaucracy. More so in fact, since it has been that way since we started ramping up for WWII and they have never had a real haircut.
It is the nature of bureaucracies to grow without bounds, and DoD is espcially so prone since that is where all the money is.

Make it an even x%, across the board, including military and everyone else. Everyone’s ox gets gored but not by any more or less than your neighbor’s ox.

What not to cut? 10% across the board all congressional salaries, staff; defund NPR, Arts; cut in half the subsidizes for NASA, AMTRAK, farms this year and phase out over the next five; 25% cut the dept of Ed, EPA, HUD this year phase to 50% next two years, cut all FED staff by 30%, raise military pay by 10% now, privatize SS, end obamaCare.......that's just the beginning.
