“Similar new standards for traditional 75-watt, 60-watt and 40-watt incandescent bulbs will go into effect in California over the next few years, with wattages reduced to 53, 43 and 29 respectively. “
Good, we can all go blind too.

Socialism always ends with the people starving and shivering in fear in the dark.
They’re just trying to speed up the process.
I hear the pig tail light bulb is loaded with mercury. Good tuna food eh?
The 72-watt replacement bulb, also called an energy saving halogen light, will provide the same amount of light, called lumens, for lower energy cost.
Yeah they do. I just can’t see as well when using them.
What about putting a dual bulb in the fixture and using two fifty Watt bulbs??
Well....well, last business/person out of California will NOT have to TURN OUT THE LIGHTs...they’ll already be out!
Eventually the EPA will ban the CFL bulbs as too hazardous because of their mercury content.
Get rid of the 100W bulb the same time you pass the CA version of Cap and Trade. Gosh, I love living here.
As of today, we now have another 725 Laws on the books in CA. The idiots in Sacramento have some bad Sushi before bedtime and their Utopian Socialistic Dreams become Law the very next day.
Things that you would never have taken seriously and would have laughed out loud when you first heard them are now part of the everyday life of Californians.
I’m surrounded by complete and utter morons...
"Chinese Man Has Eaten 1,500 Light Bulbs Over 42 Years"
LOL! Son’s girlfriend bought me a couple of packages of 100w and75w bulbs for Christmas - all wrapped up in pretty Christmas paper! She knows I’m hoarding the incandescent bulbs. I had only bought 60w, but now I have a good selection. I’ll continue to buy more. I’ll make darned sure I don’t have to use those twisty bulbs!
I don’t purport to be an expert but I’ve studied various types of lighting. The most energy efficient, lowest cost, and brightest bulb to replace traditional incandescent bulbs is the Xenon bulb. Better yet, for non-incandescent lighting, is the LED which is incredibly long-lasting, bright, and requires virtually no maintenance. There is also the Krypton type bulb which is better than the incandescent but inferior to the Xenon. I could go on but the point is that the old, traditional incandescent bulb is obsolete in terms of cost, energy consumption, longevity, and brightness shed. Time to move on!
100 watt lightbulbs to read with, bad. Gazillion watt metal halide lamps to grow marijuana, good to go.
