I jumped in with the TRS-80 model I. I had two of them, wrote some terminal software in assembler so they could talk to each other... end eventually allow me to dial into the mainframe I supported at my day job. Fun stuff.

I remember downloading at blazing speeds with my 300 baud modem.

So do I. Strange that it was normal to watch text disply slowly across the screen. Even funnier that this behavior is often duplicated in movies where supposedly much higher tech is being used.
