Edged weapons are arms protected by the Constitution.

I would say 2 things: 1) Good for the sword guy. The right to keep and bear arms is a protected right. 2) Who keeps a sword within reach to use in self defense? I mean, you know, besides Zorro.

People in that area have gun arsenals...must be saving their bullets for a rainy day and/or practicing restraint.
The definition of restraint is a country whose people have enough bullets to take out a large country, in addition to an Army, but vote to let their govsters scr@w them of their life and liberty.

LOL! As my failure to complete the statement shows, I couldn’t quite reduce myself to that level. Almost, but not quite. Maybe I should join a club and beat myself with it...

I have numerous bladed weapons in my home and garage. Any intruders shall be pinned to the wall for removal at a later time.

We have quite a large number of rather large blades just in the kitchen ~ not at all what you'd normally find in your average home.
I was at IKEA yesterday and noticed that they were having a sale on cutlery inserts for large drawers. One of them was 30" by 24" ~ $5.00! Bought several of them.

I have numerous bladed weapons in my home and garage. Ditto. Couple of machetes, couple of Bowies, an actual sword, various knives from different cultures, a TL-29, Boatswain's knife, and many folders here and there.

In days gone by, a club would be a thug’s weapon, and a sword would be a gentleman’s weapon. Three cheers for tradition (one for each finger) and for self defense.

Who keeps a sword within reach to use in self defense?Could have been a sword cane. Cold Steel makes some high-quality and absolutely lethal ones... /g

Looks a bit chintzy. Several decades ago, before they were formally outlawed in Europe, I bought an antique sword cane with a beautifully carved handle in Marseilles, France. The blade was made by Wilkinson of England but the shopkeeper couldn’t tell me where the item was originally made. Based upon the carving, he and I thought it was made in Germany or Switzerland. Since it wouldn’t fit in my duffel bag, I had to buy a huge suitcase just so I could get it back to the States.
When an older (now elderly) relative from Brazil came to visit and told me about the rampant kidnappings near Sao Paolo, I gave the sword cane to her. The hilarious thing is that she had to use the same suitcase; glad I kept that, too. She (a former fencer) told her son the cane came in handy a number of times.
