Kasich did the right thing. Even most Democrats that I know realize that this is a foolish waste of taxpayer money.
Sound like a good deal.
But it’s slow!
Willie needs to be here to defend the trains.
Soon they are going to have to force us all into the cities to use them and pay for them to justify them.
The relocation act of (put any date here).
California's democrats would disagree. Watch for the following to happen in coming years:
Increased airfare on in state flights as a result of increased taxes.
Increased taxes on gasoline.
Highly subsidized rates on high speed trains.
Trains will never become popular until they have a much lower traveling cost to the passengers.
I was referring specifically to Ohio’s development of a passenger train system. California is a totally different animal, so I’m not surprised about what you said.
Those two cities are all of 80 miles apart. How on earth is is cost or time effective to drive to the train station, take a train that averages slower than cars, and then drive or take a taxi from the end station to your destination?
Absurd.
I sure wish Willie Green was still around so I could give him a ping. :o)
Barack Obama, Train to Nowhere.
On the other hand, "ya don't need to be a weatherman ..."
They’re putting in miles of high speed rail from the suburbs to downtown Detroit, along Woodward Ave. at an expense to the taxpayers, costing us billions of dollars. For what?
Just look at New Mexico’s Rail Runner to see a train boondoggle.
Always remember, mass transit means epidemics. There is no surer way to spread the flu. One sneeze in the box car means 80 potential new victims.
Unfortunately our new republican governor is a democrat.
So that theives from Detroit have a quick getaway from the suburbs.
Instead they take the money and piss it away in the California desert. Great.
You’re both right.
I remember when Buffalo, NY used to have a decent economy around a core set of stores
Then there was money made available to build a public transportation subway.
They CLOSED MAIN STREET and put in this thing that no one uses. All the stores closed, and Buffalo is nothing but business office space and lunch and evening food places to feed them
It is a disaster
They have to offer bribed to get businesses to come to Buffalo, and the population is down to a quarter million
But they have a metro-rail!
I hate mass transit. I’ve never been on a plane, I’ve been on a train once, and a bus twice. Mass transit never goes where I want to be which happens to be as far from people as possible.
Nothing makes me happier than creeping down 50 miles of washboard 2 track to find a nice spot to pull over and set up camp on the lake superior shoreline.
