The guy is intelligent, and comes across very well.

I agree. Scott's statement:

"... If someone accuses me of not being born here, I can go — within 10 minutes — to my filing cabinet and I can pick up my real birth certificate and I can go, ‘See? Look! Here it is. Here it is.’ The man has dodged everything. He dodges questions, he doesn't answer anything..."

I find Scott's statement to be remarkably lucid. It somehow cuts to the chase at all perception levels.

If one were to describe natural 'authority' as the ability to objectively and self-evidently answer a question or solve a problem, Scott's statement takes aim at Obama's lack of natural authority with a very simple analogy.

Darn right! Taking the birds to Cuba for pre-season games! How can any American support this team?

Another reason I left what USED to be the game of the sandlot, and is now the game of the millionaires, more interested in profit than the time-honroed game, itself.

When Major League Baseball went on strike, I threw away all my baseball cards, glove and ball, because they took what was a key to identifying another soldier as an American, and not as an infiltrator in a dead soldier’s uniform! They took away a key to American POW’s sanity, by replaying the last game seen, in his mind.

Now, Major League Baseball attempts to quiet the voice of the employees, er, ballplayers, because it is contrary speech.

Once again, Major League Baseball, since you cannot silence THIS voice ... FRED YOU! I shall not watch, nor purchase anything with your logo on it, I will contact my cable provider and have them turn off singularly, should they be so technically capable, MLB sports!

"Luke Scott's comments do not reflect the opinion of the Baltimore Orioles organization. The fact is that Barack Obama is our President, duly elected by the people of the United States. End of story."

"End of story???

Far from likely, the story will just grow thanks to this statement. This guy need to hear from a lot of FReepers about the CONSTITUTION and NOT about "baseball"!!!

The Little League issued a statement today. No certificate, no play.

That is a tragedy. (s understood) I am an early ball player with this generation. 1973 was my Little League year. What a life the Lord has endeared me to learn. I think the billboard #1 was popcorn. :^)

I’m not following your statement. In case you misunderstood, I was using a rhetorical device; not providing a direct quote. The Little League has traditionally required birth certificates to resolve questions over eligibility. Obama’s jpg would not allow him to play. Since it’s baseball, it ties in with the thread topic.

Secondly, there was a significant breach of the statutory process by which the Congress during its January, 2009 Joint Session certified the results of that Electoral College, and the process is open for corrective action by a subsequent Congress.

Interesting, I knew the former but not the latter. I'm not holding my breath though.

In a related story, Pres. Obama relates a childhood memory to refute accusations by a baseball player regarding his birth in the US:

“I remember playing baseball as little boy in Hawaii. In fact I remember stepping up onto the court, swinging the bat at the ball and hitting it so hard I scored a goal...I remember feeling I accomplished something as I ran around the designated stations watching the ball bounce through the goal posts”

He went on to say

“Yeah, shucks, I’m just a Chicago kid. I always dreamed of playing ball in Kowalski Stadium with Mario Andretti.”

Angelos is not “exactly” a communist. He’s really more like one of those ultra-rich Soros-type billionaires. He is a liberal hypocrite and a “taker”.

Luke Scott is a good guy, and I happen to agree with him, but he probably should have steered clear of this line of questioning. It will pose more of a negative for him and a distraction for the team than it will do good. Regardless, its a free country. He can say whatever he wants!

Scott is a decent ball player, he is a devote Christian, but he ain’t exactly Kurt Schilling. This could have a very negative impact on his career.

It may blow over or maybe he gets traded to the Royals or the Pirates ~ he would still do very well. I would miss having him in Birdland.

Remeber the Obama incident where he waqs asked to name a single player on his beloved Chicago White Sox and he couldn’t do it!

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/dailypitch/post/2010/04/president-obama-praises-cominskey-park/1

How embarrassing is that?? Why would anyone even pretend to be a fan of a baseball team or of any team or of any sport?? Obama is so incredibly shallow.

My understanding is that this was done so that Angelos could “welcome” Cuban baseball players with potential to possibly gain access to some of their quality pitchers.

If so, those players have shunned the Orioles and their advances toward them. It’s pretty disgraceful ~ and when I think about it somewhat of a challenge to remain a dedicated fan.

Though I can’t say that I can afford to support the team, since I haven’t been able to afford a trip to the Yard in a couple of years and am loathe to travel into Baltimore City limits, especially with my children. It’s too dangerous.

What would really be a crack up is if Rush put his birth certificate up on his website.
