I remember Don’s laughter during one MNF game. Vince Evans was TERRIBLE, he threw interceptions and fumbled the ball away. After Evans was replaced and the Bears started to gain yardage under their new QB, the crowd started chanting “We Want Evans!”

Even Gifford had trouble with the laughter.

He was 72. Meredith died at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center, a hospital spokesman confirmed this morning. The Meredith family's attorney, Lisa Fine Moses, said his wife, Susan, and daughter Mary were at his side. Meredith had battled emphysema in recent years and suffered a minor stroke in 2004.

His role on MNF made it easy to forget just how good of a quarterback he was.

Don Meredith was in some of the best episodes of Police woman.
I remember when that Earl Holloman’s character criticized Meridith's for using a larger than standard department firearm. Don had a 1911, if I am flashing back on both cylinders, He said he didn't like those itty bitty guns.

I remember the TV camera turned to some kid sitting in the almost stands at an Oilers game, when they were getting pummeled. When he saw the camera was on him he very calmly flipped the bird to all the Monday Night Football viewers. Meridth said something like, “He’s just saying the Oilers are number one!”

My favorite story about Dandy Don when led the Cowboys to win over the Redskins almost the length of field with no timeouts and a punctured lung.

You feel old! I can remember trying to find a parking spot on someones front lawn at the old Cotton Bowl and then sitting on pillows and shivering under blankets that we brought to the game (along with a flask of something to ward off the cold) but it was worth it to watch him throw “Hail Marys” to Bob Hayes....and who could forget the Green Bay/Dallas Super Bowl with everyone freezing in the snow.....I will really, really miss him.
