No, I mean I believe breaking the law is wrong whether you’re a democrat president lying under oath or a country music singer breaking existing anti-drug laws.

Willie is a pretty good pilot, albiet one certainly without a medical these days.
Back when he was really hot, he had a Gulfstream 1. He could come up on Ft. Worth Center frequencies late at night, enroute home.
The controllers at FWC knew whose airplane it was, and it was obviously Willie at the controls, so they would just communicate with him with the radio call “Air Willie.”

Repeat offender with enough quantity to qualify as “trafficking”.
Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the crime. Quit holding “everybody else’s stash”, Willie.
If this were some 50 year old hip hop artist, “sharin’ the wealth”, the reaction might be different.
Locking up David Crosby saved his life and his career and got him off of crack.
The OJ defense doesn’t always work.

Johnny Cash was also a national treasure but he made a wreck out of his life with pill and drug addiction.

The Secretary of the Treasury is a tax cheat so I guess like pot laws, we should just get rid of all tax penalties.
Keep the laws to file on the book but just do what you want.
Good enough for Willie and Tim.

Willie did a rambling medley of his songs this year when I saw him. Seemed more concerned with putting the audience’s hats on that they tossed up to him and that he’d don and then throw back.
I’ve seen much better shows from him ages ago.

Local prosecutor would do well to settle for a fine. It'd help out the local budget a lot more than lock up costs would.

I often wonder if these folks that can not separate someones music or other talent from their politics would allow a doctor to save their lives if that doctor was a democrat neo-nazi/doper/terrorist.
Jane Fonda is still a traitor as is John Kerry and Bill Ayers. Willie has not engaged in such transgressions to be sure but just noting that there are some political and criminal deeds that are difficult to overlook.
Didn't Leadbelly get pardoned from death row TWICE over his songster abilities?

"Mickey Raphael, Nelson's longtime harmonica player, spoke with Rolling Stone magazine regarding the incident and Nelson's release, telling the magazine that "he said he feels great -- he lost six ounces."

Hudspeth County Texas Sherriff Arvin West
"It's kind of surprising, but I mean we treat him like anybody else," West told the El Paso Times. "He could get 180 days in county jail, which if he does, I'm going to make him cook and clean. He can wear the stripy uniforms just like the other ones do."

Willie is too old to go to jail. If he goes he'll write 10 new songs about it & we'll have to listen to them. Why punish society? as opposed to another reggae album?

Okay, seriously now... we've got scores of illegals romping Northward over the border, would be terrorists trying to get explosives onto planes, real terrorists killing our soldiers on our own military bases, crooks in congress breaking the tax laws they wrote...
But by gawd we nailed Willie for 6 ounces of pot!!!!!
Color me "underwhelmed"...

He’d better hope that he gets better representation from Dick DeGuerin than Tom Delay or David Koresh got. He did manage to get Billy Joe Shaver off the charge of shooting a man in the face with a gun after an argument at a bar.
