So it goes with conservatism in NJ. Even if Christie doesn't portray the 'purity of conservatism' that everyone wants, he's a start.
That’s true. My concern is the number of dolts who think Christie is suitable for President.
He is more liberal than Giuliani was.
It won't be overnight as some here would like to wave a magic wand and all things become conservative. In a notoriously liberal state like NJ, it will take time to change attitudes.
All good points. On the issue of not filing suit against obamacare, Christie offers up an explanation: 1:50 into the audio from 101.5FM Ask the Governor.
True.
And he also needs to be watched. Its always possible he may become more conservative in the future and then might become a viable candidate. Right now, he is not.
But given the fiscal mess Whitman, McGreevey, DiFrancisco and Corzine created, he also may wind up being a one-term governor if the New Jersey public rejects the austerity package necessary to clean up the mess.
Thanks for that link.
Christie - he makes me either love him or hate him and here he makes me love him. What he says about that issue makes perfect sense, as well as his comments about having a hostile legislature and so many problems to deal with simultaneously. Whitman, Di Francisco, McGreevey and Corzine left the state an economic basketcase.
I wish him well in New Jersey his heart is in the right place, and love him or hate him he is a stand up guy who says what the thinks and thinks what he says.
I just hope that with time, he becomes more conservative on more and more issues and may indeed become a serious Preidential Contender in the future.
We need as many genuine conservatives as possible and converts make the most zealous practitioners in many cases.
