I don't know. "The Grope" has got to cost more than a dollar a head. Course they don't do it to every single passenger. It's still going to be close to the cost of an air marshal though. Or make the marshal an auxiliary stew. You'd have to pay him/her more but you don't lose a salable seat and less bump to the ticket price.
Set up kiosks dispensing airline approved ammo right there at the terminal. Cottage industry. Again, no cost to the airlines or non-flying tax payers.
Should be everyone’s mantra...
So true. Also, relying on government to protect you as opposed to doing it yourself. This begins at the cradle and ends at the grave.
Once people accept this notion, there's not much they can't regulate, or better, not a damn thing they won't.
If I were in line to board a plane and noticed two counters- where one group was being x-rayed and groped, while the others were being checked for weapons, mags, holsters, and the like, guess which flight I'd be getting on?
Freedom is worth the risk and guns are tools that reduce risk. Not eliminate, reduce. When they fail, the military becomes the next option and the bad guys reap the harvest.
>Yes, it is doable...but would require more government licensing of handgun owners...
Not really... and besides any “required qualification”-system can be gamed (i.e. like in the Army’s Basic Training* where if you don’t pass Rifle qual. you do it again and again and again until you do). {Being ‘training’ however does offer the excuse that to give up if the first try was unsuccessful would be “testing.”}
>Yes, I realize that special rounds are utilized by the sky marshals...how do we make sure that anyone on a plane that is armed is:
>
>1 - a highly qualified handgun expert than has trained for high stress shoot-don’t shoot situations; and
See the above.
>2 - is carrying the appropriate rounds in their handgun?
Have the airlines provide the ammo. Simple enough.
How about...
Linda Hunt? (In case you don't get the reference, she's like four feet tall.)
What's a "beheet"? Is it a Muslim thing, like a jihad?
Especially since it's air travel related so they're probably going to tell you to go for the crotch!
Bacon snack in every seatback?
The airlines should hand out pretzels and tasers when you board and then take the tasers back up on the way out. Simple and effective. Anybody jumps up and yells Allah Akbar gets 20,000 volts. Problem solved bring the drink cart.
If this were really a free country, there would be an ATF airline. When you get on the plane, you get a choice of alcohol, tobacco, or a firearm for the flight. It’d be the safest aircraft in the sky, with the happiest passengers.
Behest. Hussein wants them to do what they’re doing.
A little slip of a keystroke, sorry.
I was flat on my back with a laptop in a hospital bed when I wrote that and I was making lots of mistakes.
No excuses, just apologies.
No attempts at coming up with a cogent intellectual argument for you, nope! Go in for the petty insult right from the get-go.
You mindset must be that actually thinking and coming up with a thoughtful response is just too much work.
Just go for the lazy response and throw out an oft-used personal insult, right?
As to the knife or taser idea what if the terrorists manages to smuggle a gun on board, or are too far away?
What do you do then?
And are you against sky marshals being armed?
It’s OK, I knew what word you were thinking of. It was just that the word came out sort of Arabic sounding, so I couldn’t resist taking a shot. It’s just my twisted sense of humor. Definitely an acquired taste. Hope you’re feeling better or will be soon.
Yes, thanks. I’m back home now...and correcting typos and grammatical errors.
Don’t you celebrate Handguns and Hard Liquor Day?
Ummmm...yes, they do.
