They already lied when they taxed smokers and tanning salons.
Oh, and the healthcare mandates.
But will the MSM call them out on their lies? Don't think so.

My wife is from Ohio: she used to call it "pop" but got used to "soda" after going to school in the mid-Atlantic. Then she moved to Boston (where she met me) and found out we call everything a "tonic". Don't even get me started on public drinking fountains: they're called "bubblers" around here...
In any event, we have to resist any attempt to impose a VAT on anything. It will remove any incentive to cut the budget and once imposed, it will never, ever go away.

I don’t buy the stuff, but it is still bullshit.

I’m a pop man myself, though I’m okay with the term soda.
I’ll have none of this “soft drink” nonsense, however! :-)

Grew up in canadastan, and it’s called pop’. Came to America, it’s ‘soda’. I went to Asia, it’s “coke’.
To: Owl_Eagle
pop is all we ever call it.

Probably he's just harkening back to the days of my youth when the paired name "soda pop" was fairly common, before its parts separated into regional names, being joined by "coke" used generically for soft drinks in much of the South:

Overheard at many a concession stand in the South:
"Gimme two cokes."
"What kind?"
"Orange Crush and a Dr. Pepper."

A new tax on soft drinks (soda, pop, soda pop, coke, whatever.................) ????
I drink so little of it; I’ll just stick to tea and water if this goes into effect, not that those two are any bargain either.
