It’s not pretty.
This is someplace well-beyond insane.
My kids are on FB and I understand the privacy settings.
However, those privacy settings are no guarantee that your FB “friends” will not make your postings available to others.
Nonetheless, this should be a lesson to all of us and our kids, to be very careful as to what is posted on FB.
Oh thanks for posting that! I’ve copied to my MAC stickies - got a feeling I’ll need it over the next couple of years. :-)
like I said...it’s not pretty. But there’s nothing racist or ‘homophobic’ in any of the Palin’s posts.
Also, I watched Dancing With the Stars and it really bugged me that not one person congratulated Bristol for making it to the final.
Good post...you’re absolutely right.
True. I just told Bristol that she and Willow got suckered into that. They fell for it. They’ve got to wise up.
Yep, they’ll get on the computer and be stupid. Apparently this is what happened.
I’d like to know when Bristol would have time to post much on Facebook. I cry BS!
We all live and learn. Hopefully the Palin girls will learn from this event.
Choose your friends carefully.
“However, Bristol should be wiser in this area what with all the mud slung at her but it appears she’s still a long way from growing up. “
she’s also the mother of a little baby :/
I looked at the comments and don't believe Palins kids said these things.
&
The comments are private on facebook with Palins kids
They either wrote them or they didn't. Which is the one which has you all hepped up?
Which is it? It can't be both. They didn't write what is in the screen captures from Facebook? (Your first sentence).
Or your second sentence, They (the children) did write the comments and they are "private on Facebook", whatever that means.
Facebook is not private in the least, by the way. I can't imagine any expectation of privacy on Facebook.
It is exactly as private as the least privacy-minded "friend" you have, which is to say "not at all". Anyone who doesn't know this has no business on Facebook.
Mine, too. Two of our echo these two Palin children in age and they (ours) are both on FB. So am I. I keep my profile locked down, use a throw-away email address, and most of my "about me" information is generic and/or somewhat outdated. I expect the same from the kids and check their profiles periodically. My oldest, who graduated college this year, is especially careful about what's on Facebook. Employers and graduate schools check these things.
As generic as I try to keep my profile, I still had someone from my childhood try to get in touch - hadn't spoken to the person in many years, as I'd moved away. Turned out that in the interim, he'd become a rather well-known, very violent criminal. Startled the living daylights out of me.
However, those privacy settings are no guarantee that your FB friends will not make your postings available to others.
It's no stronger as your most "loose-lipped" friend.
Nonetheless, this should be a lesson to all of us and our kids, to be very careful as to what is posted on FB.
Precisely. Kids in their teens and 20's seem to generally have a loser view of what constitutes private information. It seems that they often learn to protect themselves the hard way.
While I was forming the thread, I paused for a while and went to Facebook to look at their profiles. I am talking about Willow and Bristol. They have it where you can’t see their comments posted on their walls. It’s private for outsiders who aren’t friends with them On Facebook unless they accept you as a friend. I then finished the thread and posted it. Is that sufficient enough for you?
I made the determination that these posts were fabricated later and not sooner as I assumed at first.
No need to apologize. Ya’ done good, RIO. Thanks much!
A belated welcome to FR. ;o)
