Years ago I heard Neal Boortz say something that really changed my perspective. “The poor aren’t poor because they have no money. They are poor because of bad judgement. The failure of Johnson’s ‘Great Society’ is proof of this fact. Giving money to poor people changes NOTHING.” I would go on to say that our various state’s experiments with lotteries also proves this. Almost uniformly lottery winners are poor again in months. The market decides what “fair” is. Anyting else is manipulation.

I love these folks that refer to capitalism as a “system”. It isn’t. Like gravity, it is what remains when all the “systems” are stripped away. “The Law of the Serengetti”. Every morning each lion in the plain wakes up and knows, he must be faster than the slowest gazelle or starve. Each gazelle wakes up knowing that if he is slower than the fastest lion he will be eaten. Efforts to change this will never succeed because when there is no energy left for the effort The Law is what remains.

Sounds like the Fair Traders are using the same liberal justifications the Liberal Free Trade Globalists use to push their agenda

Free Traders use the same “social and economic justice” terms when pushing their agenda. Lord knows how many times the Free Trader Globalists have pushed “it will help so and so country out of poverty”. Or “it will lead to democracy” as the supporters of Free Trade with Communist China still push

Neither Free Trader nor Fair Trader cares about the American wealth shipped out of the nation, and sent to people who do not like us.

Economic Anti-Americanism is the result of both the Free and Fair Traders

We need to have an equal market access around the world and can profit from more fair trade - it needs to be both ways, not just guilt tripping Americans into buying even more expensive imported items

Equal Trade is needed...not Free or Fair Trade. Neither work

Need to do away with the Statist organizations like the WTO, NAFTA, CAFTA, EU, UN, etc....

The problem with Fair Trade is that it sounds like Communism. The problem with Free Trade is that it subsidizes Communism (Communist China). The difference between Fair and Free Trade is the difference between the Mensheviks and Bolsheviks

“Fair Trade” = “Social Justice” = collectivism = tyranny + poverty

The left always characterizes wealth as something that just occurs naturally. The evil, nasty rich people or countries just get to that big mountain of money before the poor people do. I've actually heard many leftists make arguments like that best expressed in their zero-sum analogy. Only so much wealth, so let's spread it around.

Capitalism has allowed many extremely poor countries to catapult from abject poverty to great wealth. Case in point China which thirty years ago was one of the poorest countries in the world and is now planning on being the world's biggest economic engine in the near future. If China can do it, other poor countries can do it.

“In general, the phrase “social < x >” means the opposite of < x >.”

Hey, you’re right! Social Security means no security, social services means stand in line, social justice means extortion....
