Thanks for the ping, LaybackLenny! I was listening to Rush today. Has Michael Reagan done a U-Turn in 5 days?

Oh. Well. Good. Now we don't have to mess around with all that campaigning and debates and primaries and all that rigamarole.

All we gotta do is aks Michael Reagan who our nominee should be.

I forget. Which one is Michael Reagan? Is he the ballerina?

Actually, I tend to agree. I formed a theory about politicians about three years ago. It goes like this:

Politicians are like beer.

A friend of mine and his wife were at a restaurant in Kentucky one day and when he asked the waitress what kind of beer they had, she said, “Budweiser and Killian’s Red”. My friend looked at his wife and said, “Well, that’s a no-brainer.”

Now, my friend hails from the Seattle area, where we have a plethora of micro brew choices, all with their own distinct and, usually, excellent flavors. People don’t just “enjoy a cold one”. They SAVOR their beers. So you know what he meant when he said it was a “no brainer”.

However, if one is having a party with a large and very diverse crowd, it is best to have a keg of Bud around, even if you do have a keg of Mack and Jack on hand. The reason is simple: Because microbrews have strong and distinct flavors, it means that although a lot of people really like them, a lot of people also really DON’T like them. But Bud is pretty bland. It may not be the best stuff out there, but few will take a sip and just plain reject it. That is a fairly common response with many of the best micro brews.

As a politician, your job is not to be very good and have a very specific “flavor”, which many find offensive. Your job is to be “acceptable” and not have such a strong flavor that you turn a lot of voters off.

There is a reason why there is a HECK of a lot more Budweiser sold than Alaskan Amber - And why the waitresses response to “That’s a no-brainer” was “Two Buds, then?”

That is why Sarah almost certainly cannot win and why Obama would not have had a chance if he were white.

I’ll have to see this for my self and the exact quote in context. I have heard Michael talk about Palin many times and this does not sound like him. I’m just sayin.

I’m not saying that Sarah is the ONLY choice but for God’s sake what do these people want..How about a nice moderate that can bring people to the center, is that what these people want..because if Sarah Palin is too “Polarizing” then how about we nominate McCain again, there’s a nice moderate LOL

I’d like to know just what she has done that makes her so “polarizing” other than being the victim of the biggest media smear campaign in history.

I thought he put Rick Perry at the lead...

*Huck unfortunately has the problem with convicts he can’t shake
*Jeb’s problem is that he is a Bush and not a Reagan
*Newt has had too many marriages - and he has too much baggage otherwise
*Romney has the Meg Whitman problem of not being able to reach folks making less than a million bucks a year
*Pawlenty needs personality

Said they should all take a cue from dems and study videos of his dad. Also said he was sure he’d be hearing from folks on his facebook page.

Almost as “good” as obama’s car and ditch analogy.

To win, politicians must motivate. In today’s political climate, bland Dole or McCain style beer won’t work. After all, the electorate itself is polarized - all Killians or Bud people. They hate the other choice and won’t drink it.

PS Don’t drink and drive, even with analogies! /snark

Agreed. As much as I love Sarah and will go down fighting for her, I would accept someone like DeMint, or others of a like mindset. But this from Michael hit me like a bolt out of the blue.

I hope we here on FR are not that childish..

Better hold on to your boots. I'm of the same mind as you except the damaged and polarizing part.

The media will damage no matter who we put up and imo the polarizing part is good...it defines Conservatism against liberalism, CLEARLY.

I've defended Palin here many times against unfair attacks but am not sold that she is the best candidate.

Time will tell, and we've a ways to go.

I can see this with the Palinistas: they support an empty suit with no real record of accomplishments. I wish they could name one she has.
