The MSM certainly wouldn't want that would they?
Ya think this could have anything to do with the death panels the left came up with this year...you know, to kill off those damned republican voters??!! NAH!
Just wait until they have to pay for college!
~duck and cover
Could be they recognize a communist.
Seniors were out in droves in my town. Canes, walkers, propping each other up...
Let’s hope they hang on to vote in another two years as well.
When it comes to Social Security reform, or anything to do with social security, seniors want certain things written in stone...
1) No slashing of benefits.
2) Guarantee cost of living increases (year after year).
3) No increasing the age of eligibility (for those about to collect benefits).
They also don't want any sacrifice or slashing on medicare or any of their coverage programs.
If those are written in stone, it reduces flexibility, but if the GOP, in the short term, can work with it, the GOP could wind up getting a monopoly on those votes...
Paging AARP, who just apologized for sticking it to them with DeathCare.
I paid far more into Social Security over a lifetime of working than I’ll ever get back from it.
I resent Obama’s CUTS of social security these past two years. Yes, I know, he didn’t call them cuts. He said there was no inflation, so therefore there would be no adjustment.
That is a bald-faced lie. Just go down to the supermarket and buy food if you want to know whether there is any inflation or not.
Also, so far, my doctor continues to keep me on. But he gets paid practically nothing for it, because medicare has been cut severely. The practical result of that is that a lot of doctors are no longer taking on older patients. But at some point, they may have to drop some of their current patients, because they lose money every time they see such patients.
And, yes, I have paid a lifetime of insurance premiums, and medicare deductions since they were introduced.
That would be nice but our fiscal problems can’t be solved without changes in entitlements. I think there is a bit of hypocrisy among some older folks. I’m nearing retirement and, of course, I’m angry that the government used the money I paid into the “trust fund” for many years. However, I am willing to deal with the reality of cuts to benefits because I want a bright future for this country and my family.
Good post;)
Some retirees continue to pay taxes on their investments and pensions. Medicare is not ‘free’. Premiums are paid every month and claims for benefits are subject to deductibles and coinsurance.
Employees and employers were forced to contribute to Social Security. People are postponing retirement, or continue to work parttime into their 70s, often using group medical insurance first and Medicare as secondary payor.
Social Security was enacted in 1935. Everyone between the ages of 65-75 who started working at age 20 has been contributing for 45-55 years. It’s their money!!!!
Apparently Andy Griffith isn’t enough to sway them. The dems are gonna have to double down on their commercials to fool the old people.
(Every damn time I see one of his lying commercials, I get a massive urge to pistol whip that babbling old fool)
No senior should ever vote for a DemonRat again. And they should quit the AARP which is a LEFTIST organization that pushes socialism.
Seniors and babyboomers are so screwed. Any of them who voted for Obama deserve what they are getting and it’s going to get worse. I feel bad for Repub seniors and baby boomers.
The problem is lots of old people like fools still watch Tv and network Tv at that. The libs scare them. Still - if they watch TV - they probably deserve it. Don’t blame me.
Well, once the Democrats got ObamaCare passed, they knew they wouldn’t need to pander to the seniors any more, since they won’t be here much longer.
Tough luck because the seniors and baby boomers who voted Obama in (2008) effing destroyed the effing country.
The USA is bankrupt. I laugh when idiots point things about how NASA needs to grow so we can go to outer space. It’s over folks. Prepare for what happened when the old USSR broke up.
“Apparently Andy Griffith isnt enough to sway them.”
Nor did flagrant efforts at vote-buying with $250 checks for prescription drugs. Thank goodness seniors have more common sense than that girl from the 2008 election who was convinced Obama would pay for her gas and mortgage.

While I agree with cutting and reforming entitlements (the dems screwed the pooch on that one for votes, and amazingly, raped the fund silly), its simple politics.
Seniors will vote, and a vast majority of them, will vote based on increases, and not cuts, etc.....
This has been polled to death, there really isn't anything that is going to change this attitude.
I agree with Paul Ryan absolutely on the need for entitlement reform, but the reason Bohner hasn't signed off on those guidelines or on that agenda, is that he knows if he does, and the Dems go the other way, then we will get slaughtered in the elections....(and those seniors voted for us this time around)....
Simply put, to many seniors, will not accept the reality of needed cuts, they just won't. They should, and yes it is hypocritical, but they have the right to vote, and they will use it to elect rats, who will promise them what they want to hear, and destroy the country trying to do it so as to win elections.
