If you view the whitehouse as the tip of a pyramid with the US senate and then the house below it, and then governorships and state legislatures at the bottom, then as you get lower in the pyramid, and particularly as you get out into state districts, the system becomes more responsive to ordinary people and particularly the gaming and vote manufacturing which democrats excel at become less effective and more difficult to get away with.
What pubbies need to do is pass instant runoff laws for all public offices in every state they can. That would guarantee no more Al Frankens.
