We don't want to make it appear as if the GOP is a bunch of radicals trying to persecute Obama.
We have to be careful not to make the mistakes of the 1946 Congress which overreached and lost control again in 1948.
We cannot lose House again.
We can take the Senate and the Presidency in 2012.
We played that game in 1994. The republicans turned into rhino’s and lost the house, and the senate. You only work with the other side within reason, sticking almost entirely to your own core beliefs. You don’t think that works? Well it just did. The republicans took a hard stance against the democrats for the last two years. How did that work out.
I respectfully must inform you that your argument is invalid.
One more thing. It is impossible to please the leftist democrats or there constituents. There values are mostly 180 degrees apart. Stick with pleasing your own base.
don’t like what he said on Rush’s show last week...politics is war without shooting and its time republicans realized that....get rid of your opposition, democrats know this some republicans are just dense...He should have never said his job to make the president look good or help him with his agenda...dense. had to cover his stupid remark at the beginning...Rush gave him an earful on his program...and went to a break, without this guy coming back on...
I just threw up a little.
Not dense. Not one bit. Before obama flees the country, what to do? Read him the rules and turn him into a victim (a role he relishes, by the way), or pump some sunshine up his ass and make him look and feel needed, important, and presidential? Let his minions relax and take it easy. We aint gonna hurt anybody. Don't worry, be happy. Politicians dissimulate. Successful politicians do it intuitively and well. Now isn't the time to drop the hammer; we're not even organized yet, and the rats are in full defensive mode. Run out the lame duck session, get moved in, get organized. Define our duties and our principles and then get to work. With a smile. Co-opt the rats, beat them at their own game until it's our game, with our rules. They'll eventually be unemployed, but they'll still never believe that we did it to them. And that's fine.
Rush is a highly paid broadcast professional, who owns his program lock, stock, and barrel. He can say and do what he pleases. The responsibility is his alone. Issa is a congressman, who needs to use a different procedure to achieve his much different ends, which effect the lives and livelihoods of the entire citizenry. The minute he presumes to own his gig, that's the time for him to go.
Who do you think will cover these stories, and when will they begin coverage?
In other words, be a conservative and not just a go along to get along type of guy (my paraphrasing) I personally don't care about the house rules as much as I care about stopping the spending, destroying the medical care etc. Already some companies are going to bail on health care for their employees based on what is coming down the pike with the democrat health care destroying rules....
As far as what to do before Obama flee's the country. (your words) If I were in Washington I'd ignore the SOB and do what I was elected to do. Has nothing to do with Obama...He is a different branch of government...
All budgets start in the house of rep. Not the White house.. The only choice the president has to to accept or reject with his veto....I'd put out the bills the country wants and let the bastard veto them all along with democrats in the senate...No new spending, concentrate on fixing what they tried to destroy and screw the democrats. They can come along or not, their choice and with their losses this last time I don't think too many want to go on unemployment like their 60+ friends just did....
The only way to get along with a liberal is to be a harder ass politican than they are.. They should fear republican and not the other way around....(wishful thinking on my part)
As I posted here this morning.
"The Pubbies will be compromising with the Rats before the day is over. All in the name of bi-partisanship."
Some 'predictions' are just too easy...
Good question buzz.
I’m pretty sure Drudge and Fox will cover the stories. Even if they don’t (They will!), Republicans can’t afford to be the angry, vengeful party. They need strong positives.
The Democrats are already so far in their own pool of ordure that Republican investigations aren’t really going to make the Democrats smell any worse.
I’ll give you an example of the risks of Republican faces accusing Democrats of malfeasance.
Here on FreeRepublic there are a lot of posts with cute names for the President. My brand of patriotism requires more respect for our President than that. I put up with language that seems extreme and unpleasant to me because I value the exchange of ideas. I don’t really like it, though.
Even more, my wife and children, who are smart, loving people, won’t listen to a political ad on TV. The ads are too negative and personal for them. They generally vote Democrat because they don’t like the dark, dour Republicans and thats all they have been exposed to.
I fear Republican-led investigations will produce the same effect for millions of smart, loving people who ought to be voting with us.
Let the Dems and the media do the dirty work. Put Marco Rubio and Sarah Palin on the screen, and let Rush and Hannity put Rangel, Waters and Holder on the screen.
By prudence I meant simply to recognize the limits of our power, what we can and cannot do.
We are in an essentially defensive mode right now.
We can block Obama's agenda, but we still cannot implement our own until we gain control of the WH and Senate.
