The action needed here is to put up a replacement sign and then WAIT with a BBgun/pellet rifle OR shotgun w/birdshot or rocksalt (a southern favorite for just this sort of “justified action”.
When ‘they’ return to repeat the ‘dirty deed’ give 'em the rebel yell and squeese the trigger surely .......
It works folks and you'll will feel better for having ‘punished’ your ‘assailants’ in a way they will NEVER forget.
Besides, its cheaper than a bottle of whiskey and a lot more fun.
Blood on the tracks and all that jazz.

It might have been the Harmer team that took down the signs. P-Town has an ordinance that dings people $5 a day if the signs are left up after a certain period of time.
