NO! It’s not good advice. If followed it breeds more thuggery.
A good citizen — a significant percentage of us — must stand up against such thug arrests as described here, firmly and without suggestion of violence. We must refuse to be handcuffed if arrested, because all our demeanor and appearance suggests we will be well behaved if we can be assured that the arrest is under proper warrant for the proper person. We must firmly and steadfastly insists that the officer provide the reason for our arrest and describe and name us if the arrest is by written warrant.
Fast forward about twenty something years to another rural Tennessee County in another part of the state where the law enforcement and judicial system had became corrupted by organized crime and embedded into the county justice system. One former active duty Marine came home to a county he know longer knew which had been taken over by organized crime. The man was severely beaten.
The sheriff the former Marine would later run against tried to kill him and in doing so lost his own life in a high speed chase. The man won election as sheriff and did clean up the county. Whatever he may have became after that point is part urban legend, malicious gossip, and likely some truth as well. His name was Buford Pusser and he took a stand.
Going against courthouse office occupiers in any shape or form including legally and some LEO in this state is not healthy and at the least can find you sitting in a jail cell just because a judge does not like you. I have interacted with a number of LEO in my county. Most are good Joe's just doing their job. One I interacted with thought was going to tear down my door because someone had prejudiced is mind about a situation I was having to deal with trying to protect some innocents living in my home. Even a county detective knew the whole story.
I was handed a subpoena one afternoon about 3:00pm to be in court the next morning to testify in a case in which I was the states witness. I was to testify against another family member which I was willing to do. Without saying specifics I was a foster parent. The innocents I was protecting were family members who had been abused. I tried calling my county court clerks office to see about if the writ was even legal and on record. It was poorly wrtiten, had the wrong county seat for another county on it, and lacked a seal. They were as vague as the writ itself.
In Tennessee you must be given 5 working days notice on a subpoena. I contacted the state agency I was contracted with and was told the subpoena was invalid and to stay home. There was no attempt to evade anything. This agency dealt with these issues and I though I was in the clear. They said they would handle it.
Next morning a Deputy I didn't know from Adam is pounding hard on my door. I opened it about half awake. He yelled where's the kids? I said at school where I left them this morning go ahead and call and see. {You'd think this would have been the very first thing anyone would have done first right?} His demeanor was as if he could rip my head off so I quickly tried to bring him up to date with what it was all about.
Someone maybe the judge told him to check our home. Likely it was the defense lawyer who likely said I was hiding the kids who knows. The state knew different as did another officer of the court who was also informed of what was going on.
I do know this much the next month when I did go to court and take the stand that judge was very hostile toward me at every turn. Again this was not in Monroe County. I will not say which county for obvious reasons. My point is I trust NO rural Tennessee Courthouse and I no longer trust most judges occupying them.
The judges in Monroe Countyn for whatever reasons allowed a Grand Jury Foreman to hold that position for 20 years. That was wrong and I can see appeals of convictions coming from that. To draw attention away from that wrong the LT Commander was addressing it looks like they are using the LT Commander's arrest as a diversion is my guesstimate.
I've seen enough rural courthouse cronyism & shenanigans myself to tell me I should give the LT Commander the benefit of the doubt until a jury from another county and a judge from a distant county hears his case. Some people have different names for it. I call it Litter Box Politics. It's like several cats sharing a litter box. One comes in and digs then begins to cover the others mess.

Thanks for the REAL LIFE tale of politics, court and police actions in the REAL AMERICA. That REAL AMERICA plays out very harshly for folks at times — just ask Don and Terri Adams.
FR had it’s own October Rally in DC for Clinton’s Impeachment 12 years ago as a result of Jim Robinson’s distress how they were beaten down by Union thugs at a Clinton Rally in Philly.
Well, the beat down that the IBEW Local 115 gave Don and Terri was light-weight in comparison to the HELL that the Philadelphia city and Federal courts under heavy influence of the Unions and Ed Rendell (now Governor, then Mayor) gave them over the next ten years. They eventually got some justice, but it wasn’t complete. Fast Eddie is un-rebuked for his malevolence in that case, as well as others.
Such problems are NOT just with rural county court houses in Tennessee — they are EVERYWHERE. Folks have to stand up and take real hits in order to take them down some notches. Most of whom are unsung unknown heroes.
