Sounds like Glenn Beck is the one who likes to take passages (especially the closing sentence) of the Declaration of Independence out of context. What do you think the Founders were intending when they signed it? Are our founding documents no longer valid, Glenn, or just the passages you like for your show?

Well violence is the last resort but I see nothing wrong with Broden’s statement.
To: DTogo
Apparently Beck rejects Jefferson, who wrote about watering the tree of liberty with the blood of tyrants and other armed resistance kinds of stuff. Beck - what a sissy.

nobody on the right needs to be talking about a violent overthrow of the government a week and a half before the most important election in years.. idiocy
To: DTogo
I heard that this morning.
I thought Beck was sounding a bit pussified.
Perhaps, failing other options, we should wave our hankies at the bad guys and weep soulfully?
I say bring it before I get too damned old.

For those of you who don’t know, Pastor Broden is a black minister in South Dallas who is up against Eddie Bernice Johnson who was in recent trouble for giving scholarship money to relatives and kids of aides—money she was couldn’t be used on anyone else because no one qualified had applied for it. He’s a big believer in our God-given freedoms and was pushed (IMO) into admitting that if our liberties are taken away, there could be a violent overthrow of the government. I don’t see anything wrong with his comments—however, I didn’t hear them in the entire context of the interview.

Agreed, Broden is correct but saying it right right now is playing into the hands of the left.

I detect a touch of “martyre syndrome” in Beck.

Article 1 of the Texas Constitution says that as long as its a Republic form of government the people have the right to alter, abolish the government as they see fit.

Let’s not turn America into a ‘Banana Republic’. As long as there is legitimacy in the voting process, it is totally irresponsible idiotic to inject any violent intent into the campaign.

He sounded like a crybaby ready to throw a hissy fit if he didn't get his way.
Unless the elections provide a “change in leadership” and are “producing results”, he advocates armed insurrection against our Constitutional form of governance.
Imagine if in 2006 a left winger were saying that unless the 2006 election brought about a “change in leadership” and was “producing results” they were going to go Rambo on us?
Would anyone here be quoting Thomas Jefferson in that person's defense?
