There is definitely a soft spot by leadership towards all things representative Islam and Muslim and a definitive to remove and/or delete all negative references thereto.

A U.S. soldier who captured a deadly 2009 rampage at Fort Hood with his cellphone camera testified Friday that he was ordered to erase the video by his commanders.

The video could have provided key evidence at the trial of Major Nidal Hasan, a U.S. army psychiatrist who faces 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted murder. But it may not be necessary for prosecutors. They presented 20 witnesses who identified Hasan as the shooter, in the first three days of what is expected to be a lengthy hearing to determine whether there is sufficient evidence for a court martial.

Christian communities have to go to court over this as having a mosque so close to a Christian church can cause problems if they later on decide to put up loudspeakers blasting their 5 times a day call to prayer. Christian churches also have rights, especially since the church was there long before the moslems purchased the land. I think this would be a strong legal argument for the church next door.
