I knew it was a lot to ask for but I had hoped for better.

Thanks anyway.

You knew that what was a lot to ask for? Is this a part of your "intellectual discourse"? No wonder it's such a challenge for you to get along.

You're welcome anyway.

Please. Grow up. This is 2010 not 1865. Do you want to fight the war again? Are you accusing me of being vitriolic? I should show you the mail I got from some Confederates. Talk about vitriolic. Some were down right threatening. I’m an American. I love America, it’s my home. I don’t want to ever live in a nation divided. If living here in The United States of America isn’t good enough for you or any of the Confederates in the Attic, then pick a better country. I’ll take this one.

Read my post again. I made two separate comments. The fact that this is 2010 was at the cores of my comment. Keep that in mind when you re-read it.

I’m not advocating a “United State’’, if what you’re intimating thats what I want for America. I have to confess I haven’t looked back at this article since it was some few days ago and I’m not really interested in rehashing it or being tutored to re-read anything. You haven’t answered any of the questions I asked you.

And you have not commented on anything I actually said, only what you imagined I said. I guess that means we’re even.

I just did. You seem to think as I see that I’m some kind of ‘’statist’’(yankee/unionist’’? I said I’m an American. I believe in the United States of America, as it has been configured since 1865.

No. (At least I think, “no”. That sentence makes no sense.)
I don’t know you enough to see you as anything in particular. I made a couple of valid points about where the country has gone since Lincoln and the WBTS which no one has yet made a comment about. The rest is just a bunch of assumptions and insults. If you’ve got a rebuttal to the actual points I made...make them.

It’s no use jmacusa - this leesghost asshat is a moronic contrarian. His shtick is disagreements (and being disagreeable).

You’re better off looking for sense elsewhere than anywhere in his vicinity.

Even if you yankees manage to take it left of a European socialist state?

as it has been configured since 1865

There's been a lot of changes since 1865. Which post 1865 period do you prefer? Reconstruction? Jim Crow? O Ba Ma?

No, I don’t see idiots like you around every corner. Just on these threads with FR and even then it’s a very localized subset of stupid.

But yet you feel an overwhelming compulsion, as the self appointed Caped Crusader of the Internet, to continuously monitor these 'stupid' threads and attack these non-insurrectionist insurrectionist around the clock.

Uh, who were calling stupid?

You talk a big game but when you’re asked for a date you lamely attempt to turn it around.

Ok, ok! I give. You want a date? I'll give you a date!! Are you ready? ((drum roll)) Here it is....wait for it.......

April 9, 1865.

That's the date that your obama regime was set into motion.

Ya happy?

Now. Your turn. Give us the date that you are going to start stamping out insurrection. It wasn't that many posts back that you threatened to lace up your combat boots, march South and kill all the rebels. So give us a date, or, like your taliban heros, are you planning a sneak attack.

The amount of unprovoked vitriolic, hateful and intolerant comments posted at the very beginning of this thread is amazing. Liberals must surely be taking notes.

I would say that the hate and vitriol is about even divided between the two sides so will you include people like cowboyway and Idabilly in that liberal label?

The one thing that those who call Confederates “traitors” cannot deny (if they are being intellectually honest) is that Lincoln and the “unionists” — wittingly or not — are the authors of our great decline, and in forcing the people of the Southern states to be part of the “union” made slaves of us all.

Does intellectual honesty force you to admit that had the confederacy won their rebellion then there is no reason to believe that their government would have been a whole lot different? I mean after all if Lincoln's actions are the cause of all our current misery then why wouldn't the precedent set by Davis have any less impact on an independent confederacy?

“I would say that the hate and vitriol is about even divided between the two sides so will you include people like cowboyway and Idabilly in that liberal label?”

You’re missing my point. Go back and read the beginning of this thread. A bunch of people on your side set off to attacking and insulting right out of the box. Can’t blame others for defending themselves after being attacked.

“Does intellectual honesty force you to admit that had the confederacy won their rebellion then there is no reason to believe that their government would have been a whole lot different?”

I would say it differently. It is certainly POSSIBLE that such a thing could have happened. There are lots of reasons to believe it would have been different, and many to believe that it would have ended up the same. And just for the record, I’m not blaming Lincoln for everything that is now, but am saying it was his actions and fundamental belief in centralized big government that opened the door and set the wheels in motion.

BTW...I appreciate the rational exchange. Not exactly our track record but, hey, it’s a good thing.

Sorry, his particular variation on "intellectual discourse" precludes finding fault with his leftist buddies. So even the fact that the hostilities commenced with posts #3 & 4 - ("A bunch of people on your his side"), he is loathe to admit it.

Kudos however on getting him to depart from the Lost Cause Loser manual and admit to the possibility that the confederacy wouldn't differed substantially from the union it left. I hope the other LCL's don't drum him out of the Loser's Club over that...;-)

You shouldn’t assume things about people right off the bat. Assumptions can often and most always are wrong. Such as you’re assuming because I’m born and raised in New Jersey I’m a neo-socialist or a socialist who favors a Euro-socialist style police- nanny-state. I’m not. I’m a free-market capitalist , my politics are conservative and I vote Republican. Jim Crow. The Klan. Lynching. Segregation. Gun control. Funny you should mention those things. All bought courtesy of the Democrats. So you’re a Southerner are you?

Lincolns responsible for the decline of America since 1865? This is one of your points? Wow. Considering what the man had to deal with in 1861, 13 Southern states in open and armed rebellion against the Federal government and just as a historical aside, knowing how Lincoln really felt about slavery, we were a nation where owning another human being was acceptable, Lincoln himself is shot dead barely a week after it ends, and yet this man , in your opinion is responsible for 150 years over irrevocable decline? How so?
