I know the Boise Tea Party is behind Labrador big time.
But the Tea Party Express endorsed Minnick before the primary election for some reason.

It doesn’t even make sense, since Minnick is a huge Pelosi backer and has supported Big Government quite a bit throughout his career.

This is particularly puzzling because the Tea Party Express has endorsed so few candidates, and only 7 of them are running for the House! Why did they choose the ones they did?

Especially since all of the House candidates are incumbents.
So I don’t get the point of these endorsements at all.
And is the Tea Party Express really saying that Walt Minnick is one of the 7 best members of the House?
I find that hard to believe.

t looks like some kind of TPX Affirmative Action program.
I guess the Tea Party express practices the soft bigotry of low expectations when it comes to Democrats...
What else could explain it?

Tea Party Express really didn’t do their homework at all.
I think they thought it would give them “bipartisan” cover so they could claim to “support both Republicans and Democrats.” Or maybe they actually believed at the time they could entice Democrats into opposing 0bamaCare by using Minnick as an example. As if Democrats want Tea Party support! Not even Minnick wanted it, and he used the opportunity of the TPX endorsement to reject the endorsement and then bash the Tea Parties in general, and TPX specifically!

How stupid is this Tea Party Express to go around endorsing their enemies? And this is where your money goes when you donate to them. As far as I know, the Tea Party Express has never righted this wrong.

And now Minnick is running these disgusting Alan Grayson-like ads against the REAL Tea Party candidate, Raul Labrador.

Is this the kind of behavior the TPX condones from politicians?
What do they have to say about this?
Perhaps they could use the opportunity of Minnick’s blatantly false smear campaign to retract the endorsement of Minnick, and award it to Labrador, instead.

That would go a long way to clear the water they muddied in this extremely tight race.

Good excuse.

I'm sure you would find another "reason" if the one you used wasn't avaiable.

Why don't you just say you don't want to help the TPX?

Give because you want to, if you want to.

A couple of years ago someone posted the "f" word here at FR, and the mods did NOT delete it.

this is why I can't give to Free Republic...I want too. but I can't

And that got them more publicity, and made the Tea Party Movement more effective!

Man, those Tea Party Express people are geniuses!

"How stupid is this Tea Party Express to go around endorsing their enemies? And this is where your money goes when you donate to them. As far as I know, the Tea Party Express has never righted this wrong."
As you described above, they tricked the democrat into righting the wrong!

Geniuses I tell ya, geniuses!

Sorry, it just doesn’t cut it.
Minnick is still listed as only 1 of 7 House candidates endorsed by the Tea Party Express.

Every single House candidate they endorsed is an incumbent.

I have been generally pleased by TPX’s activities in late Senate primaries, Alaska and Delaware specifically, but I’m at a bit of a loss for what their goal had been up until then. Perhaps these late races helped TPX find a purpose.

But why so few endorsement, and why these particular candidates? Most of them are worthy, particularly Mike Pence and Tom McClintock, but is Walt Minnick really more worthy than Thadeus McCotter, or Paul Ryan? Or Raul Labrador, for that matter? Or Sean Bielat, Jesse Kelly, Charles Lollar, Daniel Webster, or any number of first time candidates plucked from the Tea Party grassroots?

Isn’t that really what an organization like Tea Party Express be about? Helping citizens who want to challenge the Washington political establishment?

Is it really any surprise that the TPX endorsed candidates who have generated the most excitement are the ones who were true Tea Party candidates, taking on the Establishment incumbents in the Republican primaries?

This is what the Tea Parties are supposed to be all about.
Not playing footsie with incumbents... particularly an incumbent Democrat scumbag like Walt Minnick!

The GOP could have won it back if it hadn’t been for the Tea Party Express.
I just hop the GOP is able to pick up enough other seats to take the House back from Nancy Pelosi.

Only because it hasn’t happened - well, this time, in Alaska - yet.

I am trying to point out that what is “normal/history/always been done” in a large population state may not - and likely does not, apply to a small population state like AK or WY.

If you tend to see things as *impossible* at some time you are going to have a very ugly surprise in your life.

Thanks for your reply to my posts.

In my district which is heavily Republican, Delay dropped out, and we had to write in the GOP candidate.

The Democrat won easily.

And that was only in a District, not the entire State.

EXACTLY! I forgot about that. Thanks for the memories.

And, they do NOT have to spell her name correctly. As long as the “intent” is understood, don’t they have to count the vote for Mercowskee?

O.K. ASOC, you’ve convinced me that Lisa can possibly win. But, now, tell me the truth: What do you, REALISTICALLY, think is the chance she actually will win? 50/50..60/40...40/60... I’d really like to get your take on this.

And I have yet to see any indication that she is that popular to 'make history'.

She couldn't win her own Party's nomination.

I think she will lose. But just barely. And I hope like hell to be surprised by a wide margin - of defeat for Lisa.

However, the folks behind the folks pushing Lisa are pushing the meme “she can win”.

So - you will see every bit of crap on Joe, no matter how minor, trumpted on the airwaves - and some of the more glaring things on lisa (like how most of her war chest dough is Outside money) get no media attention. Nothing I can do about that.

Her voting record in the Senate very much mirrors that of Ted Stevens - you could say almost in lockstep, pretty common actually. John Karry and Fat Tad are another example.

She did vote in a way that supported
Prochoice issues
getting ilegals citizenship.

She has attacked the EPA and anyone else that goes after oil interests - the Greenies don’t care for that.

Joe’s folks screwed up on some accounts of her voting and now are getting whipped over “lying about Lisa’ record”. Pretty legit in too many ways.

Miller has failed to submit required financial forms - waaaay late. This has hurt him with the undecided Indies.

Lisa is now running ads that aren;t accepted well locally (I am not going to be too specific, why give her any help) - but they grate on an Alaskan. nuff said.

One more local factor - the Native Corporations are all in the tank for her. That can cut both ways.

So - to sum, Big Money (Oil, outside fishing interests) + the local Native Corps VS Joe and the TEA party and folks who really want to see the FedGov smaller, less intrusive and demand the border be sealed, illegals - from anywhere - psuhed back to their home. Then, enforce the laws on the books now for visitors/students/etc.

Right now, the battle is on the airways with TV and radio ads. I suspect the mailings will come as a flurry the week of the election.

Realistically - I can’t say. Local polls show a pretty wide mix - from Joe up double digits to some with it as a push or Lisa up one or two. Polling in Alaska has a bad track record, esp telephone polling. I disreguard Outside polls as they have a very bad track record for these local races.

I don’t know about you, I normally don’t talk with Outside poll outfits, but for this I am making an exception.

So - I would guess around 50/50 with Joe ahead for now. I keep waiting for one side or the other to drop the next shoe - most folks don’t do all that much research on thier own, and the ads really do have an influenace.

What waits - dunno, but with 30 days And a ton of money, I cetainly expect more attacks on Joe.

But since Joe is Arborne qualified, and a treadhead, I expect he can handle what gets thrown at him - if he cannot, then he should not be the Senator - because DC is going to be a hell of a lot rougher than this.

Stay tuned, it ain’t over yet. AS any other stories make the local news, I’ll post hem.

If you really want to support Joe, send money. He has a website and they are happy to take your dough.

They election folks here are still tap dancing around that.

THe law says correct spelling and the LM ads are pushing how to spell her name.

OTOH, we do have a sizable population that is ESL.

If it is close, count on a cat fight in Court.

Excellent, keep up the good work. This woman has got to go. She broke my “unity” tagline.

I am praying for Joe Miller.

I’m going to try and send money too.

Money and prayers, together they can do anything!
