We used to have poll taxes. Why not a tax on politicians’ salaries.
Say 150%. And make it retroactive, like the Clinton retroactive tax.

State Sen. Jeff Van Drew has proposed legislation allowing permitted N.J. residents to carry handguns.
"Senator Van Drew, for whatever reason, is kowtowing to the pro-gun forces of darkness who want to turn this country into an armed society," said Bryan Miller, executive director of Ceasefire NJ. "Its very simple: Do we want to be standing in line at a grocery store, at a movie theater, sitting next to someone in a church or anywhere else not knowing whether that person is legally carrying a handgun?"

How would that wimp, Bryan Miller, react to living in Alaska, Arizona or Vermont where almost all adults can carry concealed handguns for free without any permit or license? He sounds like he wouldn't leave his home. Period.
We’ve been discussing this at njgunforums for a bit now. I’ve come to the conclusion that this is a dem lawmaker in NJ who sees the writing on the wall but wants to dip his hand into our pockets while we’ll still agree to it. He _KNOWS_ that Carry will come to NJ and it will be administrative costs only so getting us to voluntarily accept a huge fee is his way to get something for nothing.
I’m also of the opinion that if they can get the camel’s head and front legs in the tent($500), it should be easy to get the whole camel in year after year I.e. raise the fee every year. $500 is the “teaser rate”.
If this is the only option for carry in NJ, I will probably clench my teeth and pay it. I already have a Virginia and Florida Carry permit and that’s really sad. Other states trust me more than my own.
Remember the poll tax! It's keep and bear. So it's open carry or concealed, one or the other. They can't charge you for either or for exercising a right.
I can understand the cities having problems with open carry. OK, let them take the path that Arizona and Alaska took. Arizona and Alaska made unrestricted concealed carry legal, except for felons and their de facto equivalent. Vermont never restricted concealed carry.
What if I said OK ... and exercising that right meant COMPLETE exercise thereof? Hang on before flaming me! This would include, under exemption 922(o)(1)(A), state authorization for the purchase, ownership, and possession of post-1986 machineguns, including open and unrestricted carry thereof.
Yeah, I mean getting a new M4 and zero hassles carrying it down the street.
No? Didn’t think he was serious.
