>>Sounds like a good way to get yourself killed! Those Mormons ALSO have guns!<<
Yeah, it’s really just an old joke I heard a couple decades ago. My mormon friend thought it was ultra funny. ;)
>>So far betting on the total collapse of society has been a losing bet just about always.<<
I agree. However, the devil’s in the words “just about”. ;)
And anyone that has been on the planet for more than a few decades and has been paying attention would agree that it has been being discussed and planned for in the last few years by several orders of magnitude more than at any time since WWII, even during the “bomb shelter craze” of the 50’s.
It is unprecedented and historic.
Thank you for the reply.
“He doesnt see it that way. He looks at the Bible in a way similar to how a Christian looks at the old testament. An example would be that although Christians believe in the ten commandments, we dont do animal sacrifices any more.”
So does he see Christ’s death as the final sacrafice, perfectly fulfilling the law that no mere mortal has ever done?
“He also believes the Bible is corrupted and the BOM sort of sets it straight. He doesnt just do bible speak. He knows his bible very well.”
That’s interestng. Have you ever gotten him to open up on where the Bible is “corrupt” and the how the BOM straghtens the Bible out? I find it confusing that take for exaple, polgamy which was clearly a Mormon teaching would e superior to the Bible. It is just as obvious that the God is against that but man disobeyed that and there was NEVER a good outcome with polgamy. How does he rationalize the negative outcomes with polygamy, God being against it with Mormonism changng that to being okay?
“It just doesnt have the authority with him as it does with Christians. Kinda like the old testament does not have authority to Christians in the same way it does with Jews.”
Jews don’t accept Christ as their Messiah but the nature of God and his teachings do carry over. Christ paved the way in His perfection to allow us to be with Him in heaven - John 3:16. Christ paid our sin debt. Ah, you already KNOW that! ;)
I don’t want to put you on the spot or have you try to read his mind. If you don’t know, that’s okay.
I don’t know.
That heath care thingie is a mess.
The Muslims also practice a faith that Americans know little to nothing about.
How many Christian Americans respect Muslims?
How many Christian Americans respect Jews?
How many Christian Americans respect Mormons?
How many Christian Americans know that Mormons recognize Jesus as the son of God but Muslims and Jews do not?
How many Christian Americans know that Mormons recognize Jesus as their savior but Muslims and Jews do not?
American Christians already respect the religion of Judaism and are encouraged to respect the religion of Islam. Why would the same respect also not be encouraged for The Church of Latter Day Saints?
All religions have past that includes practices subjected to examination and I am sure that is true of the Mormon religion. I have observed first hand that Mormons are very family based and friendly to all peoples. Mormons do see their religion as the one true religion as do every other religion and the beliefs of those without religion.
“Mormons on FR are looking for ways to improve their image.”
I assume that is probably part of a organized effort that includes many websites.
The threads posted here by Mormons and TV ads are clear. They want to bamboozle you with a squeaky clean veneer to desensitize you to the push back on Mormonism.
Whats silly is that of course - Mormons are just a human as any other human being. They can be fat, thin, attractive, unattractive, like sports, hate sports, be black etc.. but it will never change that Mormonism is not Christian nor the fact this is being done to get people to vote for Mitt the Mormon.
>>So does he see Christs death as the final sacrafice, perfectly fulfilling the law that no mere mortal has ever done?<<
That is exactly where we part company in our conversations, and we actually acknowledge our difference of opinion on it.
The book “Mamma, Mormonism and Me” is a good chronicle of the practical application of what Mormonism teaches. It actually involves killing your own children in the Mormon church from a historical and biographical perspective.
Mormonism actually has much more in common with Islam than with Christianity.
Thanks again.

That’s terrible ... killing your own kids. I won’t ask you to expand on that. We are NEVER to do that!
Mamma, Mormonism and Me
I just added it to my WIsh List!
Thank you again!
How many Christian Americans know that Mormon men think they become Gods, and how would Americans react to that information?
Your post confuses me. I responded with my perception of what is going on regarding his perspective of this in our many conversations about it.
I understand it is not your perspective but rather his. I didn't mean to be confusing. The book you suggested intrigued me:
The book Mamma, Mormonism and Me is a good chronicle of the practical application of what Mormonism teaches. It actually involves killing your own children in the Mormon church from a historical and biographical perspective.

I was not aware of that in Mormonism.
That's why I responded with this:
Thats terrible ... killing your own kids. I wont ask you to expand on that. We are NEVER to do that!
I don't believe YOU believe that is okay!
I also part company with Mormonism on this too:

I believe we are on the same page. You helped my better understand how Mormons reject the Bible and replace it with the BOM. I was always puzzled by that when they calim to believe in the Bible and reject it at the same time.
Am I making sense and clearing up any confusion on my part?
I added this book to my Wish List seeking to learn more about Mormon teachings. I have NO INTENTION of turning into a Mormom. Mamma, Mormonism and Me
>>Am I making sense and clearing up any confusion on my part?<<
Yep. :)
If he has to do this it would be so stupid to even enter the race.
Tough times we are in, no time for this stuff.
GOOD!!
:)
Thanks again.
Do you offer that as a reason to not respect the people who practice the religion of The Church of Latter Day Saints?
Didn’t you understand my post, it was a question.
What percentage of Christian Americans, do you think know, that Mormon men think they become Gods?
How many Americans know that the Moromons believe that Jesus was a product between Mary and a god through normal sexual intercourse?
When you talk about the Mormon Jesus and the Christian Jesus, you are talking about two very different people.
That Mormons through that same progression will also become gods? Having their own planets to rule and having thousands of "wives" to bear their own little godletts?
That Grace alone doesn't save us? That we are saved by grace only after all that we can do?
Jesus death on the cross didn't save us, it was the teears of blood He shed in the garden of Gethseme that did the trick?
