Like me, for instance. I recall being in firefights with illegals on ranches in Southeastern Arizona in the early 1970's. We had to be armed back then just to out riding morning stray cow hunting. More then once, we escorted - at gunpoint - groups of 10 or 15 off the property...and virtually all of them turned out to be Mexican criminals.

Yeah so what? I remember back in the 80s in Los Angeles before it was taken over by the Hispanic demographic that LA Metro Transit workers were being shot at with Uzis.

I remember families in LA that would get lost driving in the City would take a wrong turn down a dead end, be stopped and pulled from their car and murdered.

The point is you could just as easily be talking about drug violence in LA, Detroit, Wash DC etc.

So what's your point? That there is violence in the drug trade? I got news for you, there is violence in any business that organized crime is involved in, and the problem in Northern Mexico is organized crime. The drug trade is but one of their criminal enterprises.

And that's the difference between now and then. In the past it was just garden variety drug trade violence, but today it is organized crime with far reaching political targets.

The organized crime syndicate that moved in/exiled from Columbia are not afraid to link up with Hezbollah and trade in sophisticared weapons, setting the stage for violent revolution. In this context Colonel North is right on the money.

But I get you, you got fam history in law enforcement and you want to show you know something. Fine, but it does not change the fact that today is much different than yesterday because the criminals are much more sophisticated that they were yesterday. They are operate hotels, hospitality businesses, look like bankers and have powerful lawyers. They are nothing like what your family experienced. So you are going to have to accept that your fam history is in the past, not at all current and I can imagine that pains you but it is what it is. Although the symptoms may appear similar, the problem has a different dimension now than in the past.

This has been building up over a loooong time.

Mexico has been bad for DECADES, not just a few years.

THAT is my point.

It is not some sort of aberration that will end when a few Colombians go home.

IT'S THE WAY MEXICO IS. AND HAS BEEN.

And the way America will be when they become the dominant population!!

And you can run to the North all you want, but...they're coming.
