Well, she just lost a $35 donation from me due to this:

Employer can’t be blank.
Occupation can’t be blank.
Phone Number must be a valid phone number, including area code (example: 555-555-1234)

My employer and occupation are none of her business. Neither is my cell phone number (I don’t have a land line).

Guess she doesn’t need the money that bad.

You’ve never made a political donation have you.

Its federal law that she has to collect that information.

All federal candidates are legally required to obtain such information from contributors to their campaigns. You should refuse to donate if they *don’t* ask for that information (since you’d be aiding the candidate in the commission of a crime).

I’m pretty sure that’s a FEC thing, not an O’Donnell thing.

She doesn't need your contribution enough to violate campaign finance laws. Whether the laws are reasonable is a different question, but if you check Castle's reports Summary here you'll see that he has the same information. These reports help to track down companies in which the CEO might give each worker money to donate as a way of working around contribution limits, and they help the FEC to contact some donors to verify that the listed donation was from their own money. BTW, I gave and answered all those questions.

Dude, she has no choice. That's mandatory information by FEC rules. It prevents restricted classes from contributing, and helps track down contribution fraud.

I do believe that some, if not all of that information, is required by Federal Law....

Employer, Occupation and phone number are legally required for electronic donations to all candidates for Federal office.

“Best Efforts” Notification
Under the Act and FEC regulations, political committees must report the name, address, occupation and employer of any individual who contributes more than $200 in a calendar year (or in an election cycle, in the case of an authorized committee) (11 CFR 104.3(a)(4)). Committees must make their “best efforts” to obtain and report this information.

To satisfy the “best efforts” requirement, a political committee must include a statement on its solicitations explaining that it is required to make its best efforts to obtain and report contributor information. This statement is referred to as the “best efforts” notification; two examples are listed below:

Federal law requires us to use our best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation and name of employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 in a calendar year, or
To comply with Federal law, we must use our best efforts to obtain, maintain, and submit the name, mailing address, occupation and name of employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 per calendar year.
If the committee does not receive the required contributor information, it must make a follow-up request within 30 days. Any contributor information provided or otherwise available to the committee must be disclosed on FEC reports. In some cases, it may be necessary for the committee to amend previous reports. 11 CFR 104.7.

It's all due to the McCain-Feingold law in particular, and "campaign finance reform" legislation generally.
All of which is strictly unconstitutional when you consider that "freedom of speech, or of the press" is a right of the people, and not merely of the specific subset of the people who happen to own a printing press at the moment.

And that since the Constitution explicitly contemplates "progress of science and useful arts," and since the mission statement of the Constitution is "to secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity," empowering the government to make laws restricting our modalities of communication should require a constitutional amendment.

We should be trying to design a conservative means of modifying the composition of SCOTUS via constitutional amendment so that such infringements as McCain-Feingold would stand no chance of passing muster.

Employer/occupation information is a requirement. Candidates all ask for that.

That’s on EVERY donation I’ve made to various candidates, word for word. I think there’s a law requiring it to show that people aren’t exceeding what they are allowed to donate.

Unless of course you are a community organizer and all your friends (a bazillion of them) are donating anonymously using untraceable disposable debit cards—then all that legal stuff ain’t necessary. /s

The employer, occupation, etc info are FEC law requirements. These are SOP on every legitimate political donation. O’Donnell has nothing to do w/ this.

Requireing that info (unfortunatly) is a federal law. Funny how it didn’t seem to stop tens of millins of dollars in anonymous donations flowing into Obama’s coffers from foreign credit card accounts in 2008.
