millions will see it before it gets deleted - secondly, the preacher has wimped out so it doesn’t matter - the enemy has won - we are screwed.

You don’t get my point and it may be how I communicated it. Every time we get flag burnings of the scum islamofacist where they are burning our flag and chanting for our death it is given coverage and we “tolerate it” to a disgusting level...we have NO national will to show and tell people how wrong THEY are. We are a good, decent, mostly moral country and compared to some of those cave dwelling idiots we are far superior...but the millisecond we have one person threaten their Koran...their bok which tells them to kill us, they are OFFENDED! Oh the horrors. I do not care about them being offended as I am not offended when they do the crap they do...difference? I do not threaten them over it...THEY, however, do precisely that to us.

If the preacher hadn’t announced it in the first place, none of this would have happened.

Correction, IF THE PREACHER HADN'T CRAVED THIS MEDIA ATTENTION none of this would have happened.........

“I think burning the Koran is improper and will only inflame Muslims overseas (and our soldiers will be their targets).”

The two church “leaders” doing this could`nt care less. All they are concerned about is their 15 minutes of fame.

I’m really torn on this issue. On the one hand, we have a Pastor who, from all appearances, has a problem with who he associates with. Hanging around with Phelps’ bunch isn’t the way to get your message across, even if the message is true.

And that’s where the other side of this coin comes into play, because what he’s saying is right. Islam is a false religion and as any serious student of the Bible will know, we’re not called to tolerate false religions but to actively ridicule them and point out their shortcomings.

In fact, it has been long a tradition (and in the Old Testament a command) to mock and condemn false gods and false practices. Would you condemn the Christ as he drove the money-lenders from the Temple? Do you forget the exhortation in Deuteronomy to “Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones, cut down their Asherah poles and burn their idols in fire?” Would you condemn Elijah for mocking the prophets of Baal? Do you condemn the Psalmist who opines about the uselessness of worshipping idols? Do you condemn Paul for his condemnation of idolatry? Do you condemn the Early Fathers who uniformly wrote polemics against the worship of other faiths? You condemn Justin Martyr? Saint Augustine?

Those of you who believe the Christian church’s role is not to condemn false teaching, this time in the form of Islam, have you really thought through your positions? Fully?

Is is wrong for mainstream Christian churches to condemn the antics of Phelps and his ilk (which they have done), or should we accept his teaching of hate as well? What is the difference between the hate that Phelps preaches and the hate that Islam teaches?

The tension between the Church Militant and the Church Penitent has always been present in the Christian tradition. In the early Church, many congregations would not allow members of the military to become members and believed that a Roman soldier who converted to Christianity had to lay down his arms. In contrast, others saw them as part of an Army of God that came to full realization with the conversion of Emperor Constantine.

Whether or not it is appropriate to be aggressive is a function of a particular culture. But the bottom line is that it has never been Christianity’s “role” to accept that anti-christian faiths are valid and to refrain from criticizing them. It may be tactically wrong for this congregation to burn copies of the Koran as an act of protest, but this should not be confused with the “role” of Christianity in opposing false teachings. It is *not* wrong to condemn the execution of apostates in Islam, the resurgent acceptance of slavery in Islam (including calls for the capture and enslavement of Jewish women), the false teachings about the Christ in Islam, etc.

Will the actions of this Preacher cause more harm than good? On the temporal level, yes it will. But what will this act do on the spiritual level? I believe, even though this Pastor may be a political plant on the temporal level, he’s a clarion call on the Spiritual level that the time is short and the End of Days is finally upon us.

Those that hear the call will realize not only what time it is, but who our enemy is and what needs to be done. This, I believe, is truly the purpose behind this event, even if the Pastor doesn’t realize it.

After all, man may intend it for evil, but God can still turn it to work for the good of those who love and serve Him.

The enemy hasn’t won. You admit defeat far too easily. The guy is a kook. This should never have been a story. You should never have heard about this guy unless you’re one of his 50 followers. Maybe if you aren’t already, you could go and be a part of his congregation.

Pansies.

Are you saying that Fox News should give airtime to this so-called "church" in Florida that supports an organization that welcomes the death of our soldiers and Marines?

While there are some rich muslims who are buddies with Rupert Murdoch and own a part of Fox News' parent company, I think this comes down to "Dove World Outreach Center" supports Westboro Baptist Church and Fox News, for all of their sleaziness at times, is not going to give such organizations airtime.

Fair, Balanced and...

wait...

Afraid?!?!

If it’s news, good, bad, or indifferent, a “news” organization should have to cover it.

I’m pretty sure other news organizations will cover it, and I’ll be watching the “news” from wherever it happens and from whoever covers it.

Sure seems that way, does`nt it? Seems quite a few in here are perfectly comfortable with that church being buddy-buddy with Phelps as long as they can see a koran burned on tv.

A National ‘’mail in’’ is in order. Send a package with a partial burned Quran in it. Use a phoney return address or no return address. Drop package in a mailbox with sufficient postage on it.

I don't want that at all. I want to see thousands of Korans burned on tv, but only because it's unlikely that millions would be burned.

"...the settlement of the Czechoslovakian problem, which has now been achieved is, in my view, only the prelude to a larger settlement in which all Europe may find peace. This morning I had another talk with the German Chancellor, Herr Hitler, and here is the paper which bears his name upon it as well as mine. Some of you, perhaps, have already heard what it contains but I would just like to read it to you. We regard the agreement signed last night and the Anglo-German Naval Agreement, as symbolic of the desire of our two peoples never to go to war with one another again."

"My good friends, this is the second time in our history that there has come back from Germany to Downing Street peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And now I recommend you to go home and sleep quietly in your beds."

~Neville Chamberlain

Does this meant that our soldiers in Afghanistan will have to start carrying guns and going tactical?

In that case let us join the media and Hollywood who admit that fear of repercussions controls their industries, and let global Islam control our culture and activities here in America.

Yep. I don't know how you can reach a state where you can support an ally of Phelps and indirectly support the deaths of our soldiers and Marines. Alcohol and narcotics might help a person reach that state, but being shallow and deliberately ignorant probably works just as well.

Speaking of pansies, maybe a Rose Bowl Parade Float of the Cartoon Mohamed head with the bomb and a burning Koran in crimson pansies with a Cross and Crimson thread of redemption over-towering the display would work well over cable TV.
