Of course,,, they went there to investigate the death threats, the ones that came in interstate commerce (telephone, mail, and internet) for political reasons?
That why you went there FBI?
At this point, I don’t see where these kooks have any choice but to burn the Korans. It has been blown so far out of proportion that it has become a free speech issue that can’t be ignored. Intimidation from the FBI demands that the event happen.
Public safety is not the purvue of the FBI!!!!! Brown shirted gestapo is more like it.
An FBI visit? Wow what a bizzaro world we live in...
...just don’t upset any preferred voters.
They should be READING the Koran instead.
The Koran promotes UNLAWFUL actions and practices.
Ban Ban Ban the Koran.
Of course they did. It’s using govt authority illegally to intimidate, and prevent, citizens from protesting islamic jihad. It’s a darn good thing this preacher has a clean background. He would be in jail already. Still might wind up there before this thing is over.
Gainesville police checked the identification and recorded license plates of everyone entering the church grounds. One way to curtail First Amendment activity: put lots of un-asked-for police there, and send a huge bill -- essentially a huge fine. And record the identities of parishioners so that if the church refuses to pay, you can bill and harass the parishioners....
Gainesville city police and the Alachua County sheriff's office will both bill Dove World for additional police services Saturday.
"We will be sending an invoice for costs associated with activities planned by the Dove Center," said Bob Woods, spokesman for Gainesville City Manager Gene Blackburn.
Woods declined to estimate how much additional police presence will cost the city but said it will probably be in the "tens of thousands" of dollars.
Correction.
You can burn any damn book in this country you want to. Period.
The FBI agents should be hauled in front of a judge and have their badges taken away from them.
Burn the damn thing in pig fat.
However, the first amendment doesn't say "freedom of speech unless the government don't like it"...
So if he wants to burn it then its his right.
End of story!
Or at least that is the way it used to be...
Welcome to the Obamanation...
This is out of line.
