Sort version: If we didn’t give truckload of money to our cronies the world would have ended.
I think that the US would not have collapsed. I think Kanjorski is a liar as is anyone who says the US would have collapsed.
We are a nation of 300 million with towns, cities, counties, states, businesses large and small, and an awful lot of hard-working citizens.
Who might have collapsed would have been all those who gambled on the mortgage derivatives.
They should have had to pay the piper. Now they’re just back doing the same thing.
They lost a bad bet, and we had to bail them out.
The best lesson would have been their bankruptcy and reconstitution or disappearance.
Well, that's certainly their story. Completely avoiding any talk of Bernie Ebbers/Jeffrey Skilling-style prosecutions of the architects of that collapse was probably also painfully necessary to prevent a complete collapse of US House and Senate campaign financing. :)
I have already reviewed his campaign website and decided that, based on the information provided, I like him very much.
For instance, I LIKE that he's concerned that our financial weakness reduces our ability to negotiate with China over Tibet or Taiwan. The Bush era "free trade" policies have essentially purged such national security consideration from the GOP agenda, so I am really curious to know if Barletta is as good as he sounds.
Similarly, he talkis about "protecting" Social Security benefits without mentioning the Bush era abomination of Social Security "privatization". Is Barketta against the "privatization" scam???
I REALLY LIKE Barletta's position on abortion, 2nd Amendment and Illegal Immigration, but really need to know more about where he stands on Trade, Manufacturing, Energy Independence and passenger rail transportation before I give him my support.
