Since the Democrats are in the majority at the moment, how exactly do the Republicans pass any bills without some Democrats voting with them?

They need to keep there solutions to simple points like this. The reason the leftist continue to push for Repub specifics is to draw them into a debate on silly details and twist them into lies. This is the only way the Bamster has to distract from their stellar record.

"Watch for Obama to fire up the teleprompter today and say it is all Bushes fault A G A I N and announce his insane spend more money spend another billion on top of a trillion to pay off his union thugs in the dems hip pocket, bill."

He'll be in Ohio later today. I believe Fox is going to cover his phony lies. Ohio Is a big deal to Obama. Kasich is running for Governor.

This is a good strategy by Boehner. He knows the Democrats will not agree to anything the Republicans propose and he is putting the Democrats back on the defensive.

Sure to GOD Boehner wasn’t stupid enough to throw in the BIPARTISAN nonsense! You’re supposed to be a REPUBLICAN, John! You’re to advance republican—that is CONSERVATIVE plans. Anything bipartisan cannot, by definition, be conservative. And why would you want or expect the left to have any part in doing what is RIGHT for the US!!?? Pusses like you should be thrown out of DC on their EAR, John.

By making this proposal, Boehner boxes Obama in. If he accepts it, he capitulates to the GOP. That he cannot do and save face. If he rejects it, he cannot say that the GOP made no attempt to reach across the aisle and that it has no ideas. Either way, Obama loses.

The only way the ideas will go through is if the current majority democrats are bi partisan. I am not his biggest fan but atleast it is putting our countries immediate needs first and not politics like Obama does daily.

1-It disproves the current democratic talking point that the GOP have no ideas.

2-It shows they put country and not politics first.

I agree with you—and think this is a pretty gutsy move on Boehner’s part. It does take out of the Dim’s hand a powerful weapon (”the Pubs have no ideas of their own” mantra), and might just hoist them on the very petard they were planning to use against us.

There was a poll recently (in Ohio, I believe, the story was here on FR) showing that 50% of the people in the state wished Bush was still president. The “blame Bush” trick won’t work anymore. People no longer hate Bush, they are nostaligic for him. Everytime from now on Obama mentions Bush, it just brings up that nostalgia again.

What we need is a dramatic reversal - anything less is complicit with Obama's agenda.

Say what?? 2008 spending budget is 25 % less than we're spending now. Thats incredibly dramatic. No way Obambi is going anywhere near that.

I think Boehner's plan is dramatic and well played. Kudos to the guy with the slicked down hair.

As soon as I see the word bi-partisan I stop reading - nothing but Lib light to follow.

Maybe you should have read the article, rather than jumping to conclusions. The proposals he made, while not a solution to the problems we face, are two serious and important steps in the right direction.

Step 1: reduce non-security spending back to 2008 levels; and step 2: preserve the Bush tax cuts for another 2 years. In a little more than 2 years, we will hopefully have even more conservatives in Congress and a newly elected conservative president. Then we can see about reducing spending even further and making the tax cuts permanent.

Milk toast.

What our “leaders” need to say is
Step 1: reduce non-security spending back to 19th century levels; and step 2: double the Bush tax cuts and make them permanent.

These kinds of absolutist and unrealistic demands are why we never seem to make any headway. At least the Dems understand that progress is made in increments, with occasional leaps when the stars align. Too many conservatives want it all right now, and disdain any incremental progress.

The only incremental progress has been going in the opposite direction for the last 50 years. Now, were experiencing leaps leftward.

I for one am done playing footsie with Dems and RINOs. I will not hold my nose. I will not support bi-partisanship. I will not compromise on the words, ideas, and philosophy of the Constitution. I will not support a single (R) who does not loudly speak out.

I would much rather fight these Libs in the streets (like today with Obama) than die a slow gassing by career RINO get-a-long.

Roger that. Pansy-republicanism is how we got where we are now.

Everyone is scared and/or p*ssed. NOW is the time to propose serious rollbacks - re-privatization of recently acquired companies, tax CUTS for individuals and for God's sake, dump the federal healthcare plan before people can get used to it!

Some say the republicans can't propose anything too dramatic at the moment - BS we know damn well the GOP will do only what it has to to get back in power, and no more.

Thanks Dubya-M-DeesWent2SyriaStupid!.
1. Pass a bill that cuts non-security related government spending for the next year back to FY 2008 levels -- before all of the bailouts, government takeovers, and 'stimulus' spending sprees began... 2. Enact a two-year freeze on all current tax rates to stop job-killing tax hikes on families and small businesses.
