UPDATE 2:15 p.m. Angela Gates, a Metro spokeswoman, said the SIlver Spring Metro station remains open, though the south entrance is closed. Buses that service the Silver Spring Transit Center are being detoured around closed streets, she said.

UPDATE: 2:02 p.m.: The Discovery Channel day care has been evacuated to the nearby McDonald’s. The day care had about 100 kids. They are reported to be safe.

We've had a whole host of anti-government employee threads over the Summer so when you have a situation where some of those government employees are risking their lives to save others you just have to expect some jokes.

Still, the jokers should visit their doctor to see if their problem can be fixed.

Just a couple of minutes ago they announced the arrival of some ATF guys with expertise in dealing with high explosives.

I'm not sure you can pay for this sort of bravery ~ it just is. The salaries are incidental.

Reporter is saying someone is angry about them broadcasting “Whale Wars.”

They said they have been receiving threats about showing Ecoterrorism programming.

They said they can see the guy but they're not taking him out with snipers. And they're talking about the structure of the building and its building history and construction.

He's supposed to have explosives strapped to his body. The building is filled with people locked in their offices although some workers are getting evacuated out the back, per Fox, including children in cribs from the on-sight day care center.
